The students of Faculty of Business and Economics, majoring in Tourism and Catering Management, were the first “swallows” from the University of Debrecen to take part in a short-term group study trip of the Pannonia Scholarship Program (Pannónia Ösztöndíjprogram) in the framework of their course on international tourism relations. During their three-day trip, these students visited Vienna’s City Hall, Europa Experience (the European Parliament's education and experience center in Vienna), and the interactive museum called House of Music.

In the ImpactLab-Makerspace laboratory of Innovációs Ökoszisztéma Központ [Innovation Ecosystem Center], students can expect to be exposed to 3D technologies week after week this semester as well: in addition to taking the four courses announced, these young people can also start their prototyping journey in specific workshops.

The library of DEENK's (the University and National Library of the University of Debrecen (UDUNL) Böszörményi Road campus has been expanded with a twenty-first century multifunctional reading room to meet all needs. The 240-square-metre reading room features a pre-bookable study room and has been fully upgraded for sustainability, serving the teaching and research activities of the faculties on campus.

Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing fields of science: pharmaceuticals, medicine, agriculture, food and the environment are all using such techniques. The University of Debrecen launched the biotechnology programme in 1987, and it has been available as a stand-alone BSc course for three years.

It is the University of Debrecen again that will host this year's Hungarian round of the scientific competition of Rosatom, one of the largest nuclear energy companies in the world. Following the online format of previous years, the Hackatom nuclear energy problem-solving competition will be held this year for the first time with physical attendance of the participants. Rector Zoltán Szilvássy has discussed the details with the program coordinator and the delegation from Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The latest group of international students arriving for the spring semester at the University of Debrecen have been recently treated to a Welcome Dinner, consisting of a traditional Hungarian meal and a folk dance party. This year, the largest number of the students have come from France and Turkey. In addition to Hungarian gastronomy and folklore, these students participating in the international mobility programs also got to know their peer-partners, who will facilitate their integration into our university. Occasionally, there might be cases when you even have to take an Olympic champion by the hand in order to help them muster enough courage to just sit for an exam. Apart from providing study organization assistance and advice, this sort of personal motivation is the “secret” of the mentoring program offered by the University of Debrecen. It cannot simply be by chance that more than a hundred top athletes have already graduated from UD without having to make a choice between sport and study.

The Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen (DE MK) also participated in a prestigious international conference of renowned architects and architecture students in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. During the four-day event, 15 students from DE MK created an installation related to the theme of the event.

Following a line of previous successful events of this kind, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management have jointly hosted an Orientation Day for first-year international undergraduate, master's and PhD students. The objective of Wednesday's event was to present the cultural, leisure and social opportunities available at the university, at the faculties and in the city of Debrecen, as well as to provide useful information to help young foreigners integrate into our university community.

Certificates for their top-quality efforts in the field of studying Chinese language and culture have been awarded to the students of the University of Debrecen (UD) and Debrecen’s Vocational Training Centre (Debreceni Szakképzési Centrum - DSZC) by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Hungary. His Excellency Gong Tao gave a reception to the honored students and their teachers at his residence in Budapest on Saturday.

Study abroad, internships and research practices, intensive courses, language courses, summer schools and scholarships, i.e. everything related to studying abroad and student mobility was offered at one location, at the University of Debrecen's Foreign Affairs Exchange. This year, it is for the 26th time that International Office and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Student Self-Government organized their annual information day, where 15 exhibitors were looking forward to answering questions from interested visitors in the inner courtyard of the Main Building.

One hundred and seventy Hungarian and foreign doctors graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Debrecen. The newly inaugurated doctors received their degrees at a ceremony on Saturday.
