The new chamber opera Aldegunda by Péter Zombola, Erkel and Bartók-Pásztory Prize-winning composer and professor at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Music, premiered at Chicago's Jarvis Opera Hall and Prairie State College, with mezzo -soprano Viktória Viziniin the lead role.

Twenty-two individual masterclasses led by thirty-two artists have been held in recent weeks at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Music, at the XXII International Summer Academy for Young Musicians, with over one hundred and sixty students from fourteen countries. The event also marked the ninetieth birthday of Tamás Vásáry, pianist and conductor, who this year again took over the leadership of the Zoltán Kodály World Youth Orchestra.

Over one hundred and sixty student musicians from all over the world, from nineteen countries, are coming to the xxii. for the international summer academy of young musicians. The world orchestra, formed at the event of the faculty of music of the University of Debrecen, will once again be led by Tamás Vásáry, who will also be welcomed at the meeting on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Aida Kövér, MA student of the opera course of the Faculty of Music has won the Online Musicalada Spain international competition with one of the most difficult arias.

Saturday evening, the newly formed Zoltán Kodály World Youth Orchestra, conducted by Tamás Vásáry, gave a very successful concert at Kölcsey Center as the closing act of the 21st Young Musicians’ Summer Academy. About 200 young people from nineteen countries participated in this year’s event of the Faculty of Music.

About two hundred talented young musicians from nineteen countries have come to the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen to participate in the International Summer Academy of Young Musicians. After the master classes, the Zoltán Kodály Youth World Orchestra will be re-established, conducted by Tamás Vásáry this time round, too.

The Main Hall of the University of Debrecen hosted the opening concert of the Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition on Friday. At the classical music event the best young string players of the world competed against each other and were ranked by a prestigious international jury.

Levente Tóth, final-year student of the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen has achieved an outstanding result at an international online percussion competition. He has won the 21st Century Talents Percussion Competition, based in Ottawa.

Faculty of Music of the UD hosted Young Musicians’ Summer Academy for the twentieth time this year. There were as many as 170 participants from sixteen different countries at the traditional music course event, which was crowned with several concerts performed by Zoltán Kodály World Youth Orchestra.

The experience and impact of virtual art education were studied in the research of the Doctoral Program in Education and Culture of the UD, the joint art pedagogical research group of the Faculty of Music of University of Debrecen and the Foundation for the Art of the Future.

Faculty of Music of the UD will be hosting Young Musicians’ Summer Academy for the twentieth time this year. Applications for participation in the traditional music courses are expected to be submitted by students of high schools, colleges and universities as well as from young teachers of music.

Young talents from twenty countries are taking part in the International Summer Academy of Young Musicians. This year, the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen stages its summer programme, unique in Hungary, between 14 and 23 July.

Starting from September, the educational offering of the Faculty of Music will be further expanded in the area of master’s and short-cycle programmes. As a result of the developments of the previous years, professional records can now also be produced at the University of Debrecen.

The participants of the special course of the University of Debrecen completed the semester by giving a pop concert. At the Sunday evening event, both the students and their instructors took the stage in Liszt Hall of the Faculty of Music.

The Faculty of Music of UD is launching a new concert series – the Steinway Piano Evenings offers a special experience by demonstrating the abilities of the world-class instrument of the university. Currently, the faculty offers 6 concert series.

The Zoltán Kodály World Youth Orchestra enjoyed great success at their debut concert in Debrecen. The International Summer Academy of Young Musicians, the traditional summer event of the Music School of the University of Debrecen, was ended with the Tuesday evening concert.

At the opening concert of the International Summer Academy of Young Musicians, Tamás Vásáry talked about the milestones in his career and recited compositions linked to those events. The pianist starts work with the Zoltán Kodály Youth World Orchestra this week.

Young Musicians’ Summer Academy is to start with a special concert in Debrecen’s Nagytemplom on July 15. Young talents from as many as 22 countries from all over the world will be arriving at the traditional 10-day summer course offered by Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen.

The method of Virág Dezső, a dance artist who teaches at the music academy in Amsterdam, aims to help musicians develop new skills through using their bodies. In Hungary, the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen is the only place where she teaches „the musicality of motion”.

Almost 30 professors will be teaching the young talents who come to Debrecen this summer to Young Musicians’ Summer Academy.

Professionals from various parts of Hungary came to visit Debrecen to discuss their relevant experience at a mini-conference held at the Faculty of Music, University of Debrecen. They also had a look at the Pop Music Training Center located in Füredi Street.

Young Musicians’ Summer Academy 2017 ended with a concert given by Kodály Zoltán World Youth Orchestra at the University of Debrecen on Sunday. The next point on their agenda is an international concert tour with appearances in Bratislava, Galanta, Budapest and Eisenstadt.

Almost 200 young artists will be able to learn about the secrets of instrumental music by taking the master courses held by world-famous artist-teachers between July 14 and 23 at Ifjú Zeneművészek Nemzetközi Nyári Akadémiája [Young Musicians’ Summer Academy].

Attila Miyuji Kaneko is to give a concert at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen on the last occasion of the series called Conservatory Nights this year, scheduled for Sunday, May 7. The event marks the return of the Japanese-Hungarian pianist to Debrecen after a twenty-year absence.
