Participants in Hungary’s largest sports conference could get acquainted with the sports ecosystem of the University of Debrecen, which is unique in Hungary, as well as with its extensive sports science trainings and innovations. The experts of our Sports Science Coordination Institute prepared several presentations for this event and even a stand as the only higher education institution to display information there.

Topics such as why cryptocurrency regulations are necessary in Bosnia and Herzegovina and how police training takes place in the Republic of Serbia were featured among others to be discussed at the international meeting for law professors and legal practitioners held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Debrecen on Friday. In addition to the representatives of the hosting institution, some faculties of law from universities in neighboring countries also had a chance to present themselves at the event, the official language of which was English.

Researchers at the University of Debrecen have developed several new methods in order to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases including and similar to ammonia and methane produced on livestock farms. As it was revealed on Thursday at the institution's Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management (DE MÉK), the practical introduction and application of these methods is to be supported by the Hungarian state.

The leading mathematicians of the theory of functional equations and inequalities held a conference at the 59th International Symposium on Functional Equations organized by the Department of Analysis of the Mathematics Institute of the University of Debrecen. The Hematology Department of the University of Debrecen has been conducting hematopoietic stem cell transplantation since 2003, primarily in cases of lymph node tumors, plasma cell diseases, and acute leukemia. So far, the intervention has been performed on about 1,200 patients. Experts reported on the results of the past two decades of bone marrow transplantation activity and future plans at a scientific meeting in the Hall of the University of Debrecen on April 13.

According to a group of researchers from the University of Cluj-Napoca, tracking the movements of human eyes may turn out to be a useful diagnostic method for treating a number of diseases of nervous origin in the future. The experts gave an account of the progress of their research project by delivering a presentation at the series of events Brain Research Week hosted by their colleagues of the University of Debrecen.

The Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Humanities of UD held a conference entitled “Tea culture in China and in Hungary” in Gyomaendrőd between 21-23 October. The academic presentations were accompanied by exhibitions, concerts, dance performance and sport demonstration.

Hungary is the first country in Europe where a national skill lab network has been established. The Issues discussed at the Congress of the Experimental Surgery Section of the Hungarian Surgical Society (HSS) include the most recent research findings, state-of-the-art educational theories and methods, and the newest technologies applied in clinical practice such as robotic surgery. Experts discussed issues related to avalanches, their prediction and impact at the Avalanche 2022 international conference, which was held at the University of Debrecen between29 August and 1 September. The interdisciplinary forum was attended by recognised researchers from around the world, including mainly physicists, geologists and biologists, and an internationally renowned brain researcher also gave a presentation at the event.

A conference on the chemistry and biology of carbohydrates has been hosted at the University of Debrecen. About 100 professionals from as many as 15 European countries and the USA, as well as from Hungary, were expected to participate in the three-day English-language conference that was launched on Wednesday in the Learning Center.

Three famous Hungarian professors of mathematics will be welcomed this week at a five-day mathematics conference at the University of Debrecen. The 120 mathematicians from almost all parts of the world gathered in honor of Kálmán Győry of Debrecen, among others.

Soon, the state-of-the-art technology of the 21st century, robotic surgery or robot-assisted surgery, may be used at the Department of Surgery of the University of Debrecen. One of the largest and most significant of the nation’s institutes offering a wide range of surgical procedures celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation just last year. However, due to emergency precautions prompted by the pandemic, the centennial celebrations, where a series of asset development and organizational restructuring plans were also officially announced, could be held only now.

An the international conference entitled “Education in Family, Family in Education” has been organised jointly by the Faculty of Education for Children and Special Educational Needs of UD and the John Paul II University Krakow. At the 2-day conference scientists presented their most recent research findings in areas like educational science, social pedagogy and sociology.

The international conference organized at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen focused on advances in hysteroscopy, the related state-of-the-art devices and procedures, along with recent trial results, which were presented in English by renowned professionals. In connection with the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festivities and with the start of the rice harvest in Hungary, the Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Humanities of the UD held a conference titled “Rice in China and in Hungary” on Saturday in the settlement Gyomaendrőd.

Major topics of the conference at ZAMAT Festival included the most recent culinary trends, gastronomy as a factor in rural development, and the importance of functional foods and catering services. At the event, UD won the first prize for its “debreceni páros” that was developed at the university.
