The cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Law of the University of Debrecen and Hanoi Law University, which caters for approximately 18,500 students, opens the door for future joint research projects and publications. In addition, the Vietnamese university is also eager to participate in micro-courses linked to the “Law of the Digital Economy and Innovative Technologies” master's program, scheduled to be launched soon at the Debrecen institution.
The document was signed by Veronika Szikora, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Debrecen, and by Vice-Rector Nguyen Ba Binh, representing Hanoi Law University.
- We do have high hopes concerning this agreement because it could result in even more Vietnamese students coming to us. We eagerly look forward to welcoming them to enrol in either our currently existing English-language programs or those about to be launched later- said Dean Veronika Szikora.
The first contingents of Vietnamese students arrived at Debrecen’s institutions of higher education back in the 1960s to pursue their studies almost exclusively at the Faculty of Science and Technology at that time. Since 2004, up to 500 young Vietnamese people have acquired their degrees and diplomas here. At present, there are more than 220 Vietnamese students studying at the University of Debrecen, with the majority of them enrolled in programs at the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Right now, there are seven international students from Vietnam undertaking doctoral or LLM studies at the Faculty of Law, most of whom do this in the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program. Due to the positive experiences related to them, the faculty would be open to welcome an even larger number of Vietnamese students.
