Doctor of Pharmacy graduates were honored at Saturday’s commencement ceremony at the Faculty of Pharmacy (GYTK), University of Debrecen. At the ceremony held in the Main Building’s Ceremonial Courtyard, 75 graduates received their diplomas certifying the successful completion of their studies. A total of 16 different honors and awards were also presented.

This time, 57 Hungarian and 18 international students completed their studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen.

In her commencement address, Dean Ildikó Bácskay emphasized that the faculty had strived to ensure that the new graduates would acquire the knowledge necessary to prepare them for a responsible, rewarding, and noble profession.

- Healing the sick, helping the vulnerable, and preserving and protecting health are among the noblest services you can perform for your fellow human beings. The work of a pharmacist often takes place behind the scenes, yet day after day it influences people’s quality of life, safety, and often their very lives. “That is why pharmacy is not merely a profession, but a calling and a service,” said Ildikó Bácskay.

The faculty head reminded the students that the journey they had taken to reach this day had been a long one, involving a great deal of study, perseverance, sacrifice, and at times, uncertainty. They have had exam periods when it seemed like there was no way forward, followed by the joyful moments of passing exams.

“The pharmacy degree you’ve earned here attests to a broad, multidisciplinary knowledge base. It prepares you to excel in community and institutional pharmacies, in the field of clinical pharmacy, in the pharmaceutical industry, at drug regulatory agencies, in education, in research, and in numerous other, constantly evolving fields,” she said.
