Dental professionals have graduated

A total of ninety graduates received their diplomas at the ceremony held by the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Debrecen in the Inner Courtyard of the Main Building on Wednesday. Honors and recognitions awarded by the faculty and its student self-government were also presented at the event.

At the beginning of the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Dentistry (FOK) of the University of Debrecen (UD), it was announced that as many as 44 Hungarian and 46 international candidates altogether became dental doctors this time.

In her opening speech, Dean Kinga Bágyi noted that we could all be really proud that the University of Debrecen is not only one of the largest universities in our country, but it also has an imposing presence on the international map of higher education.

- Despite the fact that the Faculty of Dentistry is one of the most recently established faculties at our university, it has already gained international recognition in a fairly short time. Our educational and research activities, together with the clinical healing work we provide are excellent indeed. Besides the top-level theoretical training, practice-oriented clinical preparation, modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment, you have also been supported by a teaching community that has assisted in your development by sharing its professional theoretical and practical knowledge, research results and exemplary behavior- said Kinga Bágyi.

The head of the faculty also highlighted that the degrees earned by the graduates would not be valuable only in Hungary. These students have acquired a kind of knowledge and competencies that are also competitive in the international professional community. For the generation of the current graduates, the world is more open than ever in a professional sense. Wherever their career path takes them, they will help disseminate the fine reputation of the University of Debrecen and all of those values that they have acquired here.

- The dental profession is indeed special. It requires theoretical knowledge, manual precision and the proper treatment of patients at the same time. From this point onwards, you will make decisions that will have a direct effect on the health, the quality of life and, in quite a few cases, the self-esteem of other people. You will start your career at a time when technological development offers hitherto unseen opportunities. Digitalization, artificial intelligence, new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and materials are fundamentally reshaping the whole of healthcare, including dentistry- said the dean.

Following the ceremonial oath-taking and the awarding of the diplomas, Professor Emeritus titles were awarded to Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Zsuzsanna Szondy and Péter Pál Nánási, the head of the Department of Dental Physiology and Pharmacology of the Faculty of Dentistry.

Certificates of Recognition of the Talent Council of the University of Debrecen were presented to fresh graduates of dentistry Nguyen Phuong Vy, Zita Pozsonyi, Viktória Takács and Szilveszter Bálint Kovács-Varga.
