During the morning graduation ceremony at the University of Debrecen’s Faculty of Political Science and Law, it was announced that 98 students earned the title of “law graduate” during the spring final exam period of the 2025/2026 academic year. Twenty students in the Master’s program in European and International Business Law successfully passed their final exams and met the graduation requirements.
Ten participants in the specialized continuing education program for compliance lawyers, ten in the specialized continuing education program for consumer protection lawyers, 12 in the specialized continuing education program for HR consultants, human resources specialist programs, one in the real estate law specialist program, and 15 in the forensic law specialist program successfully completed their studies.
In her commencement address, Dean Veronika Szikora explained that the most uplifting moment of the years spent studying is the graduation ceremony, which is always held in the university’s Main Building, the 29-meter-high, 700-square-meter Glass-Roofed Courtyard.
- When you entered the university years ago, you had no idea what personal growth they would undergo here, a process through which you would not only gain knowledge but also become more mature. You have learned that law is not merely a web of norms, but a living system that forms the foundation of our society. You have learned how to argue, how to ask questions, and perhaps most importantly, you have learned that responsibility is both an opportunity and a duty,” said Veronika Szikora.
She added: “Be proud that you have attended the University of Debrecen! In the future, come back to your alma mater, bring your children with you, and show them where you spent your college years,” the dean urged the recent graduates.
At the University of Debrecen’s Faculty of Law’s second commencement ceremony, the faculty leadership reported that 209 students graduated from the bachelor’s program in judicial administration, while 34 graduated from the advanced legal education program this time.
Dean Veronika Szikora, addressing the graduates, emphasized that the commencement ceremony is a celebration that honors achievement, perseverance, and confidence in the future.
“This is a celebration for our institution, whose most important mission is to impart knowledge, create value, and train responsible professionals.” It is also a celebration for the faculty, who have guided the students along this path for years. And it is a celebration for you as well, dear graduates, who today receive your diplomas as a result of your hard work and dedication,” said Veronika Szikora.
According to the dean, there is a human story behind every case file. Decision-making and every procedure conducted in accordance with the rules contribute to ensuring that the law is not merely a written norm, but a living reality. This is particularly important today, the dean noted.
Numerous awards were also presented at the faculty’s graduation ceremonies. Dorottya Andrea Nagy, a graduate of the law program, received the “Outstanding Student of the University of Debrecen” award, while Szabolcs Szalontai, vice president of the faculty’s Student Government, received the Certificate of Recognition from the Student Government Executive Board.
Certificates of Recognition for the President and Vice President of the Student Government were presented to Petra Márki, Éva Eszter Pásziczki, Barbara Anna Berzi, Dóra Csutora, Hanna Farkas, Anna Homoki, Hanna Luca Hubai, Gréta Kíra Lőrincz, Róbert Rékasi, Míra Andrea Répánszki, Nerina Mendi Riczu, Zita Szarka, and Nándor Vincze.
Twenty-four students were recognized for their participation in the University of Debrecen’s Talent Development Program and for their outstanding achievements.
