The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen offers up-to-date knowledge, practice-oriented education and a new master’s course to students, who can study in Debrecen, Nyíregyháza and Szolnok.

As the best Hungarian university offering medical education, the University of Debrecen has been ranked 228th in the Medical Science category of the Round University Ranking. The university has improved by more than 100 places in the last two years in this category.

Genetic and environmental risk factors underlying diseases primarily responsible for premature death have been identified by experts in the field of public health at the UD as part of a 5-year project that is now nearing completion.

The University of Debrecen has launched a mental support service for its foreign students, based at the School of Public Health of the Faculty of Public Health. The faculty works together with the Mental Health Centre, which will be responsible for the coordination of the services provided.

“Egészségügyi Innovációs Szemle” (Innovation in Healthcare) – this is the title of a new magazine launched jointly by the faculty of Public Health and the Faculty of Pharmacy of UD. The quarterly journal will focus on the newest achievements in the fields of medicine and health science.

The Faculty of Public Health of the UD has joined the European Public Health Association (EUPHA). The objective of this international organisation is to improve the health status of European citizens and reduce inequalities in this field through the cooperation of member organisations.

A physiotherapy student of UD will compete with astrophysics, cancer research and marine biology students in the final of the SCIndicator scientific communication mentoring programme. Ivett Szalóme Horváth has developed a unique hand therapy that allows the improvement of handwriting skills.

The Vice-President of General Electric Magyarország, Endre Ascsillán, discussed several topics in his presentation given at the Faculty of Public Health, including the role of communication in health policy, cost-effective health care and the significance of the programs offered by the UD.

Evidence-based public health training is under way at the Institute of Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Debrecen, for professionals of the south-European country. The three-day programme is part of the PH-ELIM project.

To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the existence of the Institute of Behavioural Sciences of the Faculty of Public Health of the Uversity of Debrecen organised a formal sitting. Its professionals teach at six faculties, and their Master’s Degree in health psychology is unique in Hungary.
