BMW Group Plant Debrecen has recently expanded its strategic partnership with the University of Debrecen. The strategic cooperation between the German car manufacturer and our institution of higher education, which has been in effect since 2023, has been joined by the Faculty of Humanities as well as the unit Agricultural Research Institutes and Experimental Farm. The relevant agreement was signed on Tuesday by the leaders of the university and those of the company.

The University of Debrecen has recently received a delegation from Zhangjiajie College in China. The delegation from this Far Eastern institution of higher education, which has nearly 20,000 students, a broad range of courses and as many as 52 undergraduate programs on offer, was primarily interested in our university's programs on the arts.
Rector of the University of Debrecen Zoltán Szilvássy and Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Purdue University Bernard Engel have discussed the establishment of a joint food industry engineering program. The Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Debrecen welcomed its first-year international students with an outdoor picnic on Wednesday. The organizers of Welcome Day – Freshers’ Picnic sought to make sure that the participants should not only gain access to the curriculum required in order to obtain their degrees but they should also become acquainted with the faculty, Hungarian culture and customs, and the city of Debrecen in an informal setting.
A delegation from East China University of Technology has discussed the possibility of launching joint programs at the University of Debrecen. President Luo Xianping and his colleagues discussed the preparations with the leaders of our university and Coordinating Center for International Education, following which they also visited the two faculties involved.
The Director of Maharana Pratap College of Pharmacy in India had a chance to familiarize himself with the training system and infrastructure of the University of Debrecen and its Faculty of Pharmacy on Monday. During the first year of Pannonia Scholarship Program, the University of Debrecen registered the highest number of mobility participants nationwide, with a total of 950 students and staff members receiving scholarships to support their study trips abroad. This new scholarship program continues to offer a broad range of opportunities for members of the academic community at the University of Debrecen in the 2025/2026 academic year and, thanks to increased institutional support, the number of future participants is expected to grow further.
The most recent graduates from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Debrecen were declared doctors on Friday. There were as many as 147 medical doctors of Hungarian and foreign nationality receiving their diplomas at the ceremony.
According to a report presented at the latest annual meeting of Scientific and Social Advisory Board (Tudományos és Társadalmi Tanácsadó Testület - TTTT), during the course of the past year, the University of Debrecen has covered a lot in the fields of education, science, and international collaboration. The Hungarian research astronaut, Tibor Kapu, prepared to perform a surprise Tankcsapda song at the University of Debrecen's Wednesday evening stadium show to kick off the academic year, singing and playing the guitar on stage at Nagyerdei Stadium. The ninth yoUDay created a lively atmosphere, with songs by ByeAlex és a Slepp, Bagossy Brothers Company, Gergő Dánielfy, Máté Gudics and Bogi Nagy, sung together with an audience of several thousand spectators in the arena.
Team Veritas from the University of Debrecen won the international ideas competition OncoTrack Hackathon held between September 11 and 13, where staff members from Innovation Ecosystem Center assisted the Debrecen team on site.
Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen and the University of Debrecen recognized the work of researchers of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen with a Publication Award for their efforts examining Newton's Law of Cooling and, among other things, further developing the statements of the physicist who lived 300 years ago through a formula that is more easily understandable than the one used so far. The researchers presented their findings in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer.
On Tuesday, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg heard the lawsuit filed by the University of Debrecen against the Council of the European Union. At the hearing, Professor Zoltán Bács, representing the University of Debrecen, was given the opportunity to take the floor and he shared the position of our institution with the nine-member panel of judges.
