BMW Group Plant Debrecen has recently expanded its strategic partnership with the University of Debrecen. The strategic cooperation between the German car manufacturer and our institution of higher education, which has been in effect since 2023, has been joined by the Faculty of Humanities as well as the unit Agricultural Research Institutes and Experimental Farm. The relevant agreement was signed on Tuesday by the leaders of the university and those of the company.

The Hungarian research astronaut, Tibor Kapu, prepared to perform a surprise Tankcsapda song at the University of Debrecen's Wednesday evening stadium show to kick off the academic year, singing and playing the guitar on stage at Nagyerdei Stadium. The ninth yoUDay created a lively atmosphere, with songs by ByeAlex és a Slepp, Bagossy Brothers Company, Gergő Dánielfy, Máté Gudics and Bogi Nagy, sung together with an audience of several thousand spectators in the arena.
On Tuesday, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg heard the lawsuit filed by the University of Debrecen against the Council of the European Union. At the hearing, Professor Zoltán Bács, representing the University of Debrecen, was given the opportunity to take the floor and he shared the position of our institution with the nine-member panel of judges. Feringa who opened the event called 20th International Conference on Chiroptical Spectroscopy, which was held in Hungary again after twenty-two years at the University of Debrecen. The University of Debrecen and the University of Central Florida signed a framework agreement for joint pharmaceutical, medical and health science research, as well as in the fields of informatics and sports, at the 5th Hungarian Summit, a conference supporting American-Hungarian cooperation, in Debrecen. More than 3200 square metres have been added to the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Engineering building complex on the Ótemető Street campus. The new, two-storey facility primarily houses teaching units, laboratories, student community spaces and offices. The new CT scanner, which was inaugurated at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, enables faster examinations and more precise diagnoses for patients. Our students majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Debrecen can now acquire the most up-to-date knowledge in the new Krones Hungary Géptervező Laboratórium [Krones Hungary Machine Design Laboratory], which has been established as a result of the cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering and the company Krones Hungary Kft. This unit, which is equipped with state-of-the-art computers, software and measuring instruments, was inaugurated on Tuesday in the Faculty's Ótemető utca building in the presence of managers both from the university and the company.
Aurelia Skipwith Giacometto, Secretary of the Environment in Louisiana, was presented with the title of Honorary Citizen by the University of Debrecen at a ceremonial Senate meeting held to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the death of Count István Tisza. As part of this cooperation, the Oncoradiology Clinic participates in the software validation program of GE HealthCare. The Divison of Operative Techniques and Surgical research and Interactive Medical Practice Centre of the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Debrecen have been awarded a certificate of excellence. The Cornea Outpatient Clinic, which was inaugurated on Thursday at the Ophthalmology Department of the University of Debrecen Clinical Centre, uses state-of-the-art equipment to support the early detection of corneal diseases and provide better conditions for corneal surgery. The complexity of the equipment found in the clinic consisting of two surgeries and a treatment room is unique in the country. In addition to the outpatient clinic, the Cornea Bank, which has been operating for 30 years, also contributes to the excellence of the Ophthalmology Department.
The University of Debrecen is the only Hungarian institution of higher education to have received the gold certification of the FISU Healthy Campus program. Out of a total of 137 institutions of higher education on the international list, only ten have achieved a similar rating.
