Thanks to research conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen, we are a few steps closer to overcoming ALS, a hitherto and currently incurable neurological disease. The researchers working on exploring and curing this disease will be awarded the Publication Prize of Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen and the University of Debrecen.

Genetic and genome biology research was the focus of the Central European Genome Stability Meeting, an international conference organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen. The English-language event, held at the Learning Center, featured 32 experts giving presentations in 7 sessions and seeking collaboration opportunities.

The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen (DE GYTK) has been active in researching therapeutic options and compounds that could later be used to develop a new generation of drugs to treat certain cancer and immunological diseases, diabetes or even Alzheimer's. The most recent world-leading findings and results of this research team have been published in one of the most prestigious scientific journals.

An international network of research groups led by the University of Debrecen has won funding to develop a new type of drug that is hoped to bring breakthroughs in the chemotherapy treatment of cancer. The NextNano4Cancer project brings together experts from Taiwan, France, Spain, Romania and Hungary.

The new building of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen has been awarded a prestigious architectural recognition at the international competition BIG SEE Opening Perspectives 2025 in the category Educational Buildings. The National Manufacturing, Research and Education Central Plant and Faculty Building was awarded first place for innovation, intelligent design, originality, environmental sensitivity, sustainability, cultural and social awareness and functionality.

Novel drug candidate compounds, which are currently unique in the world and likely to be effective in the treatment of malaria, have been produced at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen. The outstanding achievement of the researchers involved has been recognized by a publication award by Gróf Tisza István Debreceni Egyetemért Alapítvány [Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen].

The production of several new herbal preparations is in the pipeline due to the cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen and the Tashkent Institute of Pharmacy, which has been developed in recent years. There are also plans to jointly research and develop bacteriophage-based pharmaceuticals.

It was an assistant professor of the Department of Molecular and Nanopharmaceutics at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen who became the recipient of the prize named Danubius Young Scientist Award 2024 from Hungary. Ágnes Rusznyák's chief research interests include the cellular effects of cyclodextrins and RNA carrier activity. Her findings have been published in several scientific journals.

The new building of National Manufacturing, Research and Education Center of the Faculty of Pharmacy, recently inaugurated in Vezér Street Industrial Park of the University of Debrecen, is now available for both education and pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. The three-floor, almost 7,000 square-meter, complex was built in one year at the cost of roughly HUF 12 billion.

A new type of fluorine-containing compounds chemically related to antitumour and antiviral agents, produced at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Pharmacy, could play a role in the treatment of many serious diseases in the future. The scientific article on this topic was selected as one of the flagship publications of January by the Department of Chemical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
