At the Medical Imaging Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, a new, world-class CT scanner (Revolution™ Apex Elite) has been installed. The new CT allows faster and more accurate diagnoses with the highest resolution available on the market, while using low-dose radiation.
In the field of radiological imaging, this state-of-the-art technology can perform a heart angiography in one second and a full-body scan in four seconds.
“The device can rotate around the human body in 0.23 seconds. Thanks to its speed, it can perform a CT scan of the heart and coronary arteries within a single heartbeat, in as little as 0.7 seconds. It can also use extremely short, varying energy pulses of X-rays during imaging, allowing for the differentiation of individual tissues. It can eliminate artifacts caused by metals that greatly interfere with X-ray and CT images using a smart method. With this device, a full-body analysis can be performed in just a few seconds”- explained Ervin Berényi, Director of the Medical Imaging Clinic at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.
The new device represents a high-tech, world-class CT scanner.
“The leadership of the University of Debrecen is committed to ensuring that the Clinical Center, the largest patient care institution in the country, has the most state-of-the -art equipment available for high-level medical care. This is particularly important in areas where diagnostics and therapy are closely linked, requiring the most advanced technologies for efficient patient care. This new device is a tremendous support in treating the most severe cases. I hope that this investment will be followed by many similar ones in cooperation with our partners” - emphasized Zoltán Szilvássy, Rector of the University of Debrecen.
Zoltán Szabó, President of the Clinical Center, added that the new device provides significant assistance in all areas of clinical diagnostics.
“I’d like to highlight the diagnostics of cardiology, angiology, neurology, neurosurgery, and oncology diseases. I trust that the device will greatly support the continuous improvement of patient care and diagnostic specialties at the Clinical Center” - emphasized Zoltán Szabó, President of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.
The world-class CT scanner can start its operation at the Medical Imaging Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen thanks to a unique financing arrangement.
“At the University of Debrecen, we strive to address the challenges ahead of us innovatively. This investment exemplifies this, as we are putting the latest equipment at the service of patients at the Clinical Center through a new type of financial arrangement. Thanks to our partners, we can lease this outstanding CT scanner under flexible financing terms” - said Zoltán Bács, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen.
The innovative CT scanner was developed by GE HealthCare experts considering the needs of radiologists, patients, and technicians.
“We are pleased that GE HealthCare's high-tech equipment will support the efficient patient care in the region in the future. The user-friendly scanner is easy to operate, allowing more time and attention to be given to the patient. The excellent diagnostic image quality enables faster and more accurate diagnoses for specialists, while the fast rotation speed, lower noise level, and low-dose technology ensures a safe procedure for patients” - stated Jutas Szvilen Földvári, Managing Director of GE HealthCare for Central and Eastern Europe.
The device was acquired by the University under a seven-year lease agreement.
“We are delighted that we have successfully implemented our first large-scale project in cooperation with the University of Debrecen. Leasing the high-tech device not only represents a significant advancement in broadening diagnostic capabilities for patients and their clinicians but also lays the foundation for utilizing our complex services beyond equipment leasing” - explained Gábor Széll, CEO of Medical Rental Healthcare Equipment Management Ltd.
Judit Vály, CEO of Euroleasing Ltd., added that she hopes there will be opportunities to acquire additional equipment in cooperation with the University and Medical Rental in the future.
“Considering that modern diagnostics play a key role in prevention, as a financier, we place great emphasis on helping healthcare providers acquire and apply the most innovative equipment with reliable, fast, and flexible financing products” - said Judit Vály, CEO of Euroleasing Ltd.
With the new device, approximately 13-15 thousand patient examinations are performed annually at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen.
