The 5th Music Pedagogy Conference in Debrecen provided an opportunity for researchers, performers and teachers of music, musicology and music education to exchange ideas, learn about and discuss new research.

More than 3200 square metres have been added to the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Technology building complex on the Ótemető Street campus. The new, two-storey facility primarily houses teaching units, laboratories, student community spaces and offices. Balázs Hankó, the Minister of Culture and Innovation, called the University of Debrecen an outstanding example of renewed Hungarian higher education at the inauguration ceremony on Friday.
The catheter aortic valve implantation performed at the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the University of Debrecen Clinical Centre was shown live on Wednesday to the participants of an international conference in India. The clinic's staff has a wealth of experience in this field, having performed more than seven hundred such procedures to date. The surgery was carried out in a state-of-the-art hybrid laboratory, built with a budget of around one billion forints.
The library of DEENK's (the University and National Library of the University of Debrecen (UDUNL) Böszörményi Road campus has been expanded with a twenty-first century multifunctional reading room to meet all needs. Biotechnology is one of the fastest growing fields of science: pharmaceuticals, medicine, agriculture, food and the environment are all using such techniques. The genome libraries of two protected moths, the striped Jersey tiger moth (Euplagia quadripunctaria) and the eastern eggar (Eriogaster catax), are being prepared currently by experts at the University of Debrecen within the framework of an international collaboration. The new CT scanner, which was inaugurated at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, enables faster examinations and more precise diagnoses for patients.
