Italian Professor Nicola Barbieri has given a talk at the University of Debrecen's campus in Hajdúböszörmény on the child-centered professional methods of Loris Malaguzzi, one of the greatest figures of Italian pedagogy. The Italian professor also shared the results of his recent research on childhood thinking.

It was not the first time that Professor Barbieri visited Faculty of Education for Children and Special Education Needs of the University of Debrecen upon the invitation of the Department of Childhood Education. Owing to a cooperation spanning several years, Nicola Barbieri has already held several lectures in Hajdúböszörmény, since the two institutions regularly organize mutual professional visits, joint courses and student exchanges.


In his talk, the renowned expert from the University of Reggio Emilia and Modena provided further inspiration for a modern approach to early childhood thinking. He also explored the main stages in the development of the mind of his compatriot, the eminent educator and thinker Loris Malaguzzi, as well as the foundations of today's Reggio Emilia approach to pedagogy.

Nicola Barbieri admitted that he was grateful to the faculty and the teaching staff of the Department of Childhood Education for the collaboration lasting more than ten years and expressed his hope that the pedagogical influence of Malaguzzi's work would only grow stronger and stronger, as would the connections between Italian and Hungarian culture in general.


The fascinating lecture of the Italian professor was attended by more than 250 teachers, researchers, students and kindergarten educators from all over Hungary.
