The Mixed Choir of the Faculty of Music at the University of Debrecen and the Bárdos Girls’ Choir—one of the country’s most successful and longest-standing women’s choirs—both received gold ratings at the Concorso Corale International Choir Competition held in Riva del Garda, Italy. In addition to earning the highest rating, the women’s choir won first place in its category, while the Mixed Choir also received a special award.

The discussion held in Debrecen between the Vice Dean of Taipei Medical University and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen focused on the results achieved so far and the tasks ahead in the development of a new type of drug that is hoped to bring a breakthrough in the chemotherapy treatment of cancerous lesions.

Students at the University of Debrecen (DE) will soon be able to learn about U.S. history through a new hybrid course. The program is being developed through a collaboration between faculty members of the English-American Institute at the Faculty of Humanities. UD, (BTK) and Earl Mulderink, a professor of history at Southern Utah University (SUU), under a cooperation agreement signed last year to promote educational and research projects.

Nine PhD students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen visited China Pharmaceutical University in Nanjing, a city with a population of over 9 million. The primary goal of the trip was to deepen professional and scientific cooperation between the two institutions.

The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Debrecen has been ranked among the world’s top 550 institutions. For the first time in its history, the faculty has been included in the Quacquarelli Symonds 2026 subject rankings among the world’s top 550 institutions.

Professor Andreas Funke of the University of Erlangen gave guest lectures at the Faculty of Law of the University of Debrecen. At a meeting of the Constitutional Law Student Association, the renowned German professor discussed legal interpretation issues related to the principle of human dignity that everyone possesses equally, and then held a workshop-seminar on the constitutional principle of neutrality in the German constitutional court practice.

An associate professor from the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen (UD MÉK) has become the first Hungarian researcher to visit Bouvet Island, which is part of the Norwegian Antarctic Territory. As a member of an international scientific expedition, László Radócz spent two weeks on the glacier-covered island that has seen less than 200 visitors so far, fewer than outer space has.

An academic career model designed and built from high school onward, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and direct connections to the international elite are combined to make up the objective of an agreement signed by the University of Debrecen and the city of Debrecen with Hungary’s National Academy of Scientist Education. Nobel Prize-winning American cell biologist Randy Schekman also attended the signing ceremony and gave an inspiring talk to Debrecen’s future researchers at our Learning Center.

The University of Debrecen and Schaeffler Debrecen Kft. have recently signed a sponsorship agreement. Accordingly, the university students are going to build an electric car that they plan to use to enter the Formula Student series competition next year. The German company, which manufactures bearings and automotive electronic systems in Debrecen, will be supporting the UD Formula Student team as a chief sponsor in the future.

This year, the University of Debrecen has received a prestigious award from the Ministry of Culture and Innovation in both the “Sports University” and “Student Career Development University” categories. At the gala held Monday evening at the Royal Palace in Gödöllő, the institution’s strategic endeavors were honored, and the awards were accepted by Chancellor Zoltán Bács, Vice Rector Károly Pető, and DEHÖK (Student Union of UD) President Kevin Németh.

BMW is to establish a business service center in Debrecen. The center, which is expected to handle international financial and logistics tasks, will be completed with an investment of HUF 1.7 billion, of which the central government provides approximately HUF 425 million in funding, thereby creating 50 new high value-added jobs. The new business unit of the University of Debrecen’s strategic partner will support the development of global accounting and customs processes, as well as the operational conditions of the European factory network of the BMW Group.

A cooperation agreement was signed on Thursday, March 26, by the leaders of the University of Debrecen and those of the Education University of Hong Kong in order to launch faculty and student exchanges as well as joint research projects in the future. The significance of this agreement is also indicated by the fact that UD is the first Hungarian university with which the institution located in the Far East has signed such an agreement on the basis of successful preliminary negotiations.
