Guests from Taiwan at the Faculty of Pharmacy

The discussion held in Debrecen between the Vice Dean of Taipei Medical University and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen focused on the results achieved so far and the tasks ahead in the development of a new type of drug that is hoped to bring a breakthrough in the chemotherapy treatment of cancerous lesions.

The head of the Taiwanese delegation, Liang Tzung Lin, a professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Taipei Medical University, and Ildikó Bácskay primarily reviewed the progress of the NextNano4Cancer project, which is taking place within the framework of the so-called ERA4Health partnership. The collaboration involves experts from Taiwan, France, Spain, Romania, and Hungary, whose goal is to achieve a breakthrough in cancer research by developing a new type of chemotherapy drug.

The dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Debrecen stated that the cooperation between the two institutions also aims to strengthen research and educational ties in the fields of medicine and pharmacy. Within the framework of the partnership, exchange programs, further joint research projects, and the exchange of scientific knowledge may also take place, particularly in the fields of molecular medicine, cell biology, and immunology.

- The meeting has strengthened the professional ties between the two institutions and opened up new perspectives for joint international research and educational initiatives. During the meeting, we also discussed preparations for renewing the cooperation agreement between the University of Debrecen and Taipei Medical University-said emphasized Dean Ildikó Bácskay. 

The Taiwanese professor was also welcomed by Orsolya Jánosy, head of the University of Debrecen’s International Office.

With its nearly 7,000 students, Taipei Medical University regularly includes European Union institutions among its international partners, while the University of Debrecen is continuously expanding its ties in Asia.
