Researchers of the University of Debrecen have made a major breakthrough in the observation of living cells. In fact, they have constructed a unique video-microscope system the use of which opens up new vistas in cancer research and pharmacology.

The University of Debrecen is coming through flying colors in two dimensions ranked by U-Multirank. The global university comparison site ranks as many as 1,500 higher education institutions out of 99 countries, including 11 Hungarian universities.

The pharmaceutical programme of the University of Debrecen is among the top 200 in the world, while the biology programme is the strongest in Hungary. In addition the most recent QS ranking also listed the institution among the world’s best universities in medical, agricultural and natural sciences.

The current visiting professor from India at the Department of Ayurveda in Debrecen is to offer an introductory course on the primary reasons for diseases, traditional phytotherapy, and a generally more holistic approach to healing.

During his recent visit to Hungary, Sierd Cloetingh, the president of Academia Europaea, who had also been elected an honorary member of the Hungary Academy of Sciences (MTA), discussed possible relationships to be established with the University of Debrecen.

The University of Debrecen will participate in the programmes of the Researchers’ Night for the 10th time this year. The number of registrations for the events, to be held on 30 September, has reached an all-time high.
