International students from countries like Mongolia, Vietnam, Russia, Mexico, Syria and Iran will appear in the musical Hair performed by the university theatre. The iconic musical means more for the company than ever, as many of the actors and actresses can personally relate to war. Hair will be presented at oDEon on 23 October.

The University of Debrecen and Sunway University, one of the best private universities in South-East Asia, signed a partnership agreement on Friday. The event was also attended by the ambassador of Malaysia to Hungary. The agreement will strengthen the international presence of UD and facilitate student and teacher mobility.

Abdukodir Toshkulov, the Minister in charge of higher education of Uzbekistan and Szilvássy Zoltán, rector performed negotiations on Saturday about the educational, research and innovation cooperation with the University of Debrecen. The Minister asked the University to take part in the work of the emerging Uzbek scientific and technological cluster.

A Tudományos és Társadalmi Tanácsadó Testület [Scientific and Social Advisory Board] of fifty-seven members supporting the work of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen (GTIDEA), which operates and maintains the University of Debrecen, has been established. At the inaugural meeting on Wednesday, the dignitaries from Hungary and abroad making up the board introduced themselves and received their credentials at the same time.

The new building of the Faculty of Pharmacy of UD will serve as a facility for low-volume manufacturing of medicinal products, medical food and dietary supplements, in addition to education and research. Designed by the Pyxis Nautica Architect Studio, the National Manufacturing, Research and Educational Facility will be constructed in 2023.

As a result of the general admission procedure, a total of 6,502 first-year students can start their studies from September in the Hungarian-language programmes of the University of Debrecen. The number of students admitted in 2022, including additional admissions, students from abroad, as well as those admitted to the English-language courses, is expected to reach 10,000 by September.

First in Hungary, the medical education of the University of Debrecen has been accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (HAC) based on the criteria set by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The accreditation, which is valid for 8 years, will significantly enhance the value of the degrees awarded by the university.

The Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen has established a special research and education oriented organizational unit with the Hungarian subsidiary of one of the fastest-growing software engineering companies in the world, EPAM Systems Inc. The objective of the relevant agreement is to facilitate the integration of international market expertise and up-to-date technological knowledge into the channels of education.

The University of Debrecen is further strengthening its cooperation based on knowledge transfer with Uzbekistan. Rector Zoltán Szilvássy, held talks with Ambassador Abat Fayzullaev on education and R&D cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical science and industry, as well as agricultural science.

The Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Humanities of UD, the Debrecen Summer University, and the EDC Debrecen Urban and Economic Development Center signed an educational and cultural cooperation agreement on Wednesday in order to facilitate the teaching and promotion of the learning of the Chinese language.

The Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen offers courses to prepare students for Microsoft’s cloud-based artificial intelligence and Azure international industry certification exams. The courses, which are available both in English and in Hungarian, will help students to successfully complete these competitive international exams.

On Tuesday, master lecturers of the Institute of Engineering and Business Development Innovation of the University of Debrecen (Hungarian short form: MÜZLI) discussed success and the way to get there, their careers, the pitfalls within, their respective experience, as well as their ideas concerning the future at the Odeon University Theatre. The first MÜZLI Alumni Party was attended by about two hundred university students.
