Expanding Agricultural Relations between the University of Debrecen and its American Partner

The University of Debrecen and the South Dakota State University have concluded an agreement for the purposes of the expansion of educational and research relations and the promotion of international cooperation. The partnership agreement was signed at Brookings by Endre Harsányi, the vice chancellor responsible for the development of agricultural and food science.

The University of Debrecen and South Dakota State University have maintained a close relationship for many years, primarily in the field of agricultural sciences. Several UD researchers and students have travelled to the American University to gain professional experience. Through the agreement just signed, UD and the Faculty of Agriculture, South Dakota State University (SDSU) will cooperate in the future in research and development projects, in the organization of courses and programs, and in the joint publication of scientific and educational materials.

Within the framework of the partnership, UD and SDSU will further develop the basic course in precision agricultural engineering starting in September 2023 at the University of Debrecen, by improving the conditions for the double degree and joint training. Within the framework of the agreement, we will also develop a joint exchange program for instructors and students, and organize professional events. With the cooperation of UD and SDSU, the agricultural education in Debrecen, aimed at innovative, precision agriculture, will be further strengthened - the vice-chancellor responsible for the development of agricultural and food science, Endre Harsányi, told hirek.unideb.hu.

During the visit of the University of Debrecen delegation to South Dakota State University, Vice-Chancellor Endre Harsányi presented the educational and research activities of our university to SDSU students, along with the scientific results of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management related to precision agriculture, the planned infrastructural developments and investments.

During their American trip, the experts of the University of Debrecen met with Hungary's ambassador to Washington and its agricultural attaché. During the meeting with Szabolcs Takács and Béla Kocsi, the topics of the talks centered cooperation opportunities related to the agricultural sector and education between the two countries.
