Israel declared statehood seventy years ago, on May 14, 1948. On the occasion of this anniversary the Faculty of Arts of the University of Debrecen organised an academic conference in the Kölcsey Culture Centre last Tuesday.

As a resurrection of an almost hundred-year-old tradition, the Department of Italian Studies of the University of Debrecen re-establishes the Monti Circle of Friends of Italy in order to strengthen the presence of Italian culture in Debrecen and to facilitate education and scientific work.

The 2nd Flemish-Dutch Cultural Festival in Debrecen will start with a book launch organised in the framework of Science Cafe, a series of scientific presentations of the UD.

A partnership agreement made between the University of Debrecen and the Chekhov Institute of the Rostov State University of Economics, signed on Wednesday, opens the way for collective research programmes as well as student and lecturer exchange programmes.

“Semaine Francaise” is the name of the week-long series of events hosted by the Department of French Studies of the Faculty of Humanities for the first time between April 9th and 13th but with an intention to make it an annually recurring program.

On Wednesday, visitors of the Japanese Day, held at the Grand Yard of the University of Debrecen, had a chance to get to know the Japanese language, culture, writing, martial arts, traditional clothing and gastronomy.

In the framework of its country round trip, the Polish Institute of Budapest visited the University of Debrecen. At this event, visitors could get an insight into the sights, culture and language of Poland.

According to the rank list published today by the QS World University Rankings, the University of Debrecen belongs to the international elite in three educational fields.

A book show and several lectures were held on the topics of ancient history, classical philology, and archeology at the Institute of History of the University of Debrecen. The event was arranged in the framework of the cooperation between our university and Babeş-Bolyai University of Cluj.

The team called “Brainstorm” from Debrecen’s Ady Endre Gimnázium won the national debating competition, the finals of which were held on Friday by the Institute of English and American Studies of the University of Debrecen.
