Launching a Course for Teachers of German

The Institute of German Studies of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Debrecen is holding a training course on methodology for teachers of German in cooperation with Goethe Institute. It is, in fact, the first time that the University of Debrecen is hosting this summer training program.

The 40 teachers, who mostly come from the immediate region around Debrecen, will get a chance to discuss issues like motivation and project work among other things during the course that ends on July 6. The course, by the way, is sponsored jointly by Goethe Institute, the Institute of German Studies at the University of Debrecen, and Debreceni Német Kulturális Fórum [Debrecen German Cultural Forum], whereas the participating teachers are to attend a number of cultural events, too, in addition to the classes on methodology.

Goethe Institute is the cultural institution that promotes and popularizes Germany all over the world. Its Budapest location was inaugurated in 1988, with Debreceni Német Kulturális Fórum functioning as its permanent partner in our city. One of the most important areas of its activities is to provide further training to teachers of the German language in Hungary.

The summer training program can look back on a past of several years but it is the first time this year that Debreceni Egyetem Germanisztikai Intézete can act as the actual host for the event that provides high school teachers with state-of-the-art knowledge and know-how on questions of methodology. The professional part of the full-day series of training that is to come to an end on Friday is the responsibility of experts coming from Goethe Institute.
