An international research programme that may produce significant results in evolutionary biology is led by the University of Debrecen. Researchers from ten countries discussed various issues at the opening conference of the programme that will be realised in the framework of the Élvonal Program.

The University of Debrecen has made it to the 2018 world list of higher education institutions published by Round University Ranking (RUR). Out of the evaluated areas, the UD achieved its best result in the category of international diversity.

With over 80 participants in seven sections, and with the involvement of PhD students from Zakarpatia, Upper Hungary, Transylvania and the Southern Land, the Márton Áron special college organised its conference at the University of Debrecen on 6 April.

The University of Debrecen ranks third among Hungarian universities and 658th among the 2500 best universities of the world in the recent university ranking made by URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance).

In his new research, Tamás Székely, the acknowledged ethologist of the University of Debrecen, examines the ecological, demographic and genetic characteristics of the reproduction of plavors, redshanks and other related species.

In the framework of the International Particle Physics Student Workshop 60 students learned about the research programmes of CERN and the basics of particle physics at the Institute of Physics of the University of Debrecen.

Researchers of the University of Debrecen have published an article on their research findings in Journal of Ecology. The focus of their investigation had been the ways migratory water birds can be instrumental in dispersing grains of the plants they consume.

A presentation on the mathematical background of the RSA encryption applied on the World Wide Web was held this past Friday at the Faculty of Informatics by a professor Andrej Dujella, who then also received his honorary doctor’s degree from the University of Debrecen on Saturday.

Vice-Rector Elek Bartha has signed an agreement in the city of Hamburg about the University of Debrecen becoming a full member of the consortium called CARPE. The objective of this cooperation is to facilitate the joint participation and collaboration of partners in projects supported by the EU.

The adoption of traditional Indian medicine, also called “life-knowledge”, into clinical practice was the topic of the symposium jointly organised by the University of Debrecen and the Indian government’s Ministry of AYUSH.
