Experts discussed issues related to avalanches, their prediction and impact at the Avalanche 2022 international conference, which was held at the University of Debrecen between29 August and 1 September. The interdisciplinary forum was attended by recognised researchers from around the world, including mainly physicists, geologists and biologists, and an internationally renowned brain researcher also gave a presentation at the event.

A conference on the chemistry and biology of carbohydrates has been hosted at the University of Debrecen. About 100 professionals from as many as 15 European countries and the USA, as well as from Hungary, were expected to participate in the three-day English-language conference that was launched on Wednesday in the Learning Center.

Three famous Hungarian professors of mathematics will be welcomed this week at a five-day mathematics conference at the University of Debrecen. The 120 mathematicians from almost all parts of the world gathered in honor of Kálmán Győry of Debrecen, among others.

Soon, the state-of-the-art technology of the 21st century, robotic surgery or robot-assisted surgery, may be used at the Department of Surgery of the University of Debrecen. One of the largest and most significant of the nation’s institutes offering a wide range of surgical procedures celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation just last year. However, due to emergency precautions prompted by the pandemic, the centennial celebrations, where a series of asset development and organizational restructuring plans were also officially announced, could be held only now.

An the international conference entitled “Education in Family, Family in Education” has been organised jointly by the Faculty of Education for Children and Special Educational Needs of UD and the John Paul II University Krakow. At the 2-day conference scientists presented their most recent research findings in areas like educational science, social pedagogy and sociology.

The international conference organized at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen focused on advances in hysteroscopy, the related state-of-the-art devices and procedures, along with recent trial results, which were presented in English by renowned professionals. The two-day event hosting not only Hungarian experts but also Italian, Israeli, and Indian specialists started on Friday.

The University of Debrecen actively supports the activities of the recently established Jewish Scientific and Cultural Research Institute in Debrecen, stressed Elek Bartha, UD’s Vice-Rector for Education, at the organisation's partnership meeting.

In connection with the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festivities and with the start of the rice harvest in Hungary, the Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Humanities of the UD held a conference titled “Rice in China and in Hungary” on Saturday in the settlement Gyomaendrőd.

Major topics of the conference at ZAMAT Festival included the most recent culinary trends, gastronomy as a factor in rural development, and the importance of functional foods and catering services. At the event, UD won the first prize for its “debreceni páros” that was developed at the university.

The Eleventh International Conference on Diffusion in Materials (DIMAT) was organized by the Department of Solid State Physics of the University of Debrecen. The most important conference on diffusion physics was organized again in Hungary after more than thirty years.
