In addition to coronary heart disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias, the latest treatment options for comorbidities, including hypertension, diabetes and obesity, will be discussed by experts at the 29th Debrecen Cardiology Days, which started on Thursday. Around five hundred cardiologists, nephrologists, diabetologists and general practitioners are attending the meeting at the University of Debrecen.

The Károly Ihrig Doctoral School of Management and Business of the University of Debrecen has held an international conference of PhD students, sponsored by the university’s Faculty of Economics and Hungary’s Central Bank. Hungarian and foreign students delivered presentations in ten sessions. Gergely Baksay, Managing Director responsible for economic and budget analysis of the Central Bank gave a plenary presentation. The programme included a round table discussion too.

Participants in Hungary’s largest sports conference could get acquainted with the sports ecosystem of the University of Debrecen, which is unique in Hungary, as well as with its extensive sports science trainings and innovations. The experts of our Sports Science Coordination Institute prepared several presentations for this event and even a stand as the only higher education institution to display information there.

Researchers at the University of Debrecen have developed several new methods in order to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases including and similar to ammonia and methane produced on livestock farms. As it was revealed on Thursday at the institution's Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management (DE MÉK), the practical introduction and application of these methods is to be supported by the Hungarian state.

The leading mathematicians of the theory of functional equations and inequalities held a conference at the 59th International Symposium on Functional Equations organized by the Department of Analysis of the Mathematics Institute of the University of Debrecen. The fifth Rectors meeting of the European university consortium NeurotechEU, established to enhance cooperation in the field of neuroscience in a broader sense, was held in the Swedish capital. At the NeurotechEU Hackathon competition, introduced as a supplementary event, an international team, which included a researcher from the University of Debrecen, won first prize with their proposed solution to treat mental illnesses in young people.

The role of the family in education and vice versa as well as their interaction was analyzed at the international conference organized for the third time by the Faculty of Child Education and Special Education of the University of Debrecen together with the University of Pope John Paul II.

Researchers presented the latest scientific results of the Horizon 2020-InnoVar project to support the efficiency of European plant cultivation and variety certification, at the Department of the Nyíregyháza Research Institute of the University of Debrecen's Agricultural Research Institutes and Teaching Institutions. In the program launched in 2019, the University of Debrecen cooperates with 21 consortium partners to develop innovative test methods that help growers to select varieties.
