21,000 applicants have chosen the University of Debrecen as a host institute in the 2021/22 Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme, accounting for 42% of all applications. The most popular courses are the public health and the technical programmes of UD.

The Coordination Institute for Sport Science of UD has joined the European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI). The Institute will cooperate with other institutes and businesses in product and methodology development projects.

The administration of the second those of the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers has been started at the University of Debrecen. In the following weeks more than 10,000 people will receive revaccination in Debrecen.

In cooperation with leading universities from seven countries, the University of Debrecen has established a consortium for the development of neuroscience. The opening ceremony of NeurotechEU will be held on Wednesday with about a thousand participants.

Over a hundred photos were entered in the competition organised by the Department of Cultural and Human Sciences of the Faculty of Humanities and the Event Coordination and Alumni Centre of UD. The winners received gift packages, and their photos will be exhibited.

Zsuzsa Bagoly, senior lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine at UD is among the L'Oréal-Unesco award winners this year. She has been recognised for her research work aimed at making the treatment of stroke patients more efficient.

The University of Debrecen has improved its position in yet another Medical Sciences subject ranking. Compared to its last year's performance, UD has gained 50 places to become one of the top 300 universities offering degree programmes in medical sciences in the Round University Thematic Rankings.

The Faculty of Dentistry of UD has two 3D printers now. This state-of-the-art technology can be used for making dental impressions, implant templates and "scaffolding".

The 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and Vietnam was commemorated by a conference held at the University of Debrecen, on 31 October. Nguyen Tien Thuc, Vietnamese ambassador to Hungary, also attended the event.
