Among Hungarian institutions of higher education the University of Debrecen has finished third on the most recent list of Times Higher Education World University Rankings. On the prestigious international list published Wednesday night UD was placed among the top 800-1000 category.
The first year students took oaths at the Senate meeting opening the academic year at the University of Debrecen staged in the Főnix Sports Hall on Sunday. The event was opened with Mihály Varga, minister of finance, emphasising universities’ role in research development and innovation.
Preserving its position last year, the UD is among the best 1000 universities this year again, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities also known as the Shanghaj list. The Chinese ranking list examines and lists universities based on academic results and the number of citations.
The University of Debrecen has been ranked in the top 4% by the Center for World University Rankings, which measures the performance of 20.000 institutions of higher education worldwide. The university was ranked 724 on the CWUR Ranking List published Monday.
Outsourced training will be started by the University of Debrecen at the Partium Christian University in mechanical engineering and rural development engineering at a bachelor’s level and specialised studies further training.
The UD has made it to the list of Europe Teaching Rankings 2019 made by Times Higher Education in terms of teaching excellence for the first time ever, coming out immediately as a finalist among Hungarian universities. The ranking examined 258 institutions of higher education of 18 countries.
The Hungarian Government supports the development of the technical education of the University of Debrecen with close to 20 billion forints. According to plans, vehicle engineering training can start by September 2020, with aviation engineering as a major included.
The June 14 graduation ceremony of the Faculty of General Medicine opens the series of summer graduation ceremonies ending on July 6th, where close to 3500 graduates receive their degrees proving completion of training.
UD has come forward with an exceptional idea: it has published, first in Hungary, a printed textbook with digital content. The colourful, or even mobile illustrations work on mobile phones, or tablets, helping the understanding and mastering of the teaching material in a revolutionary way.
Chinese students will soon start their studies in the Hungarian language at the Faculty of Humanities of UD. The management of the faculty and the delegation of the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) discussed the expansion of their already existing cooperation on Tuesday.
Times Higher Education, Quacquarelli Symonds - with the participaion of the most prestiguous higher education ranking organisations a 3-day forum began on Tuesday entitled Higher Education Ranking at UD.
Between 18-20 February, the University of Debrecen, with the participation of international experts, hosted a workshop on awareness and use of cutting-edge research and IT tools, as well as on the improvement of the teaching skills of researchers involved in education.
