The University of Debrecen has moved up more than 200 positions in the RUR 2020 Natural Sciences ranking list. As the best Hungarian university, UD is now among the first 300 higher education institutions. The organisation evaluates 711 universities around the world every year.

The OpenBioMaps system of the Faculty of Science and Technology of UD has won super computer capacity from the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The biological database system will be used by natural reserves and science institutes in Hungary to study the spread of species.

The Innovation Centre and the Vaccine Pilot Plant will be the first university facilities in the Science Park of the University of Debrecen. The cornerstones of the buildings were laid on Tuesday in the presence of László Palkovics, minister of innovation and technology.

The University of Debrecen has been ranked in the top 4% by the Center for World University Rankings, which measures the performance of 20.000 institutions of higher education worldwide. The university was ranked 724 on the CWUR Ranking List published Monday.

The special fluoresent compounds developed by the researchers of the Department of Applied Chemistry of the faculty of Science and technology, University of Debrecen, can also be used in cancer diagnostics, cell biology, and analytics.

Two new, a medical and and ecological, „Lendület” research groups will be established at the UD, in addition to the ten that are already operating successfully. The 16 winning candidates were announced at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences to receive a total of 540 million HUF this year.

The Clinical Centre of the UD conducts research in the field of the Higher Education Excellence Programme using the most up-to-date technology of MI, Big Data, and cloud computing. Teaching of the novel methods, with the participation of Microsoft Magyarország Kft., ended on Wednesday.
