The Government of India donated a collection of approximately five hundred volumes to the University of Debrecen. The books on Ayurvedic Medicine were presented to Prof. Zoltán Szilvássy, Rector, by Mr. Rahul Chhabra, the Ambassador of India to Hungary, on Monday.

A presentation on the mathematical background of the RSA encryption applied on the World Wide Web was held this past Friday at the Faculty of Informatics by a professor Andrej Dujella, who then also received his honorary doctor’s degree from the University of Debrecen on Saturday.

Members of a Chinese delegation that has most recently visited the Faculty of Humanities at UD have expressed their interest in programs covering the study of Hungarian and foreign languages, the possibilities for research cooperation and the channels available for student and staff mobility.

Vice-Rector Elek Bartha has signed an agreement in the city of Hamburg about the University of Debrecen becoming a full member of the consortium called CARPE. The objective of this cooperation is to facilitate the joint participation and collaboration of partners in projects supported by the EU.

An agreement on cooperating with one of the most prestigious universities in China has been signed at the UD. The members of the delegation from Asia discussed issues of student and staff mobility as well as the preparation of joint research projects at the meeting that took place at UD on November.

Language courses, a film club, friendly meetings, discussions on methodology, and book launch parties are just a few examples of the numerous events hosted by the University of Debrecen in the recently inaugurated Russian Center.

The adoption of traditional Indian medicine, also called “life-knowledge”, into clinical practice was the topic of the symposium jointly organised by the University of Debrecen and the Indian government’s Ministry of AYUSH.

David Kostelancik, chargé d'affaires ad interim, deputy chief of mission at the American Embassy in Budapest, came to the University of Debrecen on an introductory visit.

The University of Debrecen has become a full member of the Visegrad University Association (VUA). At the general meeting of the organisation, held in Moscow, it was also decided that the annual event will be held in Debrecen next year.

There are going to be more than two hundred participants learning about the Hungarian language, history, and culture during the next couple of weeks at the University of Debrecen, where the 90th Summer School was officially opened and even a memorial tree was planted on July 17.
