A joint online module titled “Forbidden City” has been launched by the Confucius Institute of the Faculty of Humanities of the UD and Tianjin Foreign Studies University. The official opening ceremony of the course was held on Thursday through an online video-conference.

The representatives of Daimler, one of the world’s biggest bus manufacturer companies, visited the UD. The manufacturer discussed the opportunities of cooperation with their partner, Inter Traction Electrics Ltd., subsidiary of ITK holding. They met with the leaders of the UD.

In the academic year 2021/2022 the number of foreign students studying at the UD may reach 7,500. Compared to last year’s figure, it represents a 10 percent increase, which can be explained in part by the ongoing popularity of UD among applicants of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme.

The leaders of the University of Debrecen met with the delegation of three higher education institutions in Uzbekistan to discuss the experiences of pharmaceutical and agricultural education in Debrecen and the establishment of a Hungarian-Uzbek joint degree programme in these fields.

The Faculty of Humanities of the UD has also been a participant in the NeurotechEU program initiated jointly by eight universities in Europe. Scholars from the faculty conducting research in English language and culture will present the results of their academic efforts at a conference.

On Thursday, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Hungary consulted the leadership of the UD on the issues of educational and research cooperation projects between our university and institutions of higher education in Kazakhstan as well as increasing the number of Kazakh students enrolled at UD.

International Speaking Skills Program (ISSD), a joint seminar course designed by the Institute of English and American Studies of the UD and US-based Indiana University to support the development of English language skills and linguistic competence has been successfully implemented recently.

The UD has been ranked second among Hungarian universities and has been included among the 300 best European universities, according to the most recent ranking of U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities.The UD’s best results were achieved in the fields of physics, biology and biochemistry.
