Among universities in Hungary, UD has been one of the most popular choices of students taking supplementary entrance examinations. A total of more than nine hundred applications have been received for admission to as many as 86 programs.

UD normally offers eight BA/BSc programs of seven of its faculties in this framework, and the application forms for these can be submitted by the students in August and September at the institutions located abroad.

Uzbekistan is counting on the knowledge base of the University of Debrecen in the fields of agriculture and water management, medicine and technical sciences. The details were discussed by Endre Harsányi, Vice-Rector for Agricultural Innovation and Training Development.

On April 22, an conference was organised by the Institute of Germanic Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the UD and the German Cultural Forum in Debrecen. The online event focused on the challenges posed by the pandemic that translators and teachers involved in translation training have faced.

Having moved a hundred and seventy notches, the University of Debrecen is now ranked among the best 400 institutions of higher education in the world according to the most recently published rankings issued by Round University Ranking (RUR).

Institute of History UD has recently received a prestigious series of books compiled and written on the history of the Catholic religious order named Deutscher Orden, also known as the Teutonic Order.

According to data available on the general application procedure to institutions of higher education, the number of applicants who wish to study at the University of Debrecen surpassed not only last year’s figures but also the national average.

The UD has been ranked 195th on the list of institutions of higher education in emerging economies published by Times Higher Education. Ours is one of ten universities out of the 600 institutions judged that could move forward at least two categories during the course of the past year.

The University of Debrecen continues to be among the top 450 universities according to the thematic list ranking life sciences and general medicine most recently issued by the prestigious London-based organization QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).

Scalpels, scissors and forceps make up the sets of medical instruments included in a more than HUF 4 million worth of donation offered by MEDICOR Kéziműszer Zrt. [Medicor Hand Instrument Ltd.] to support the programs of the University of Debrecen in medicine.

21,000 applicants have chosen the University of Debrecen as a host institute in the 2021/22 Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme, accounting for 42% of all applications. The most popular courses are the public health and the technical programmes of UD.

Many of the teachers, researchers and students of the University of Debrecen followed the online opening event of NeurotechEU, a university association comprised of leading universities from eight countries, established for the development of neuroscience

Compared to last year, the University of Debrecen has gained 100 places in the category of medical and health sciences of the Times Higher Education Ranking. UD has also finished among the best 500 in the subject of Social Sciences, while it has been ranked in the 501-600 range in Life Sciences.

Complying with the pandemic-related rules, and with the number of visitors optimised, the fitness centre of UD awaits students who need to attend PE classes and those who just want to do some physical exercise. A simple negative air pressure system has also been installed in the facility.

The Department of Botany at UD has digitalised its four botanical collections, and integrated data into a special database that can be used in distance learning as well. The structure, the morphological section and microscopic photos of various plants are all available in the virtual collection.

High-school teachers learned about local multinational companies and workplace environment in the service sector at a workshop organised jointly by the University of Debrecen and the Debrecen BSC roundtable.

With 884 applications submitted for 986 places, this year UD has proved to be the most popular university in the second round of entrance exams. The number of successful applicants will be announced at the end of August.

The University of Debrecen has moved up more than 200 positions in the RUR 2020 Natural Sciences ranking list. As the best Hungarian university, UD is now among the first 300 higher education institutions. The organisation evaluates 711 universities around the world every year.
