Last weekend over 200 Hungarian and foreign graduates took the Hippocratic oath and received their degrees at the ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine. The dean of the faculty emphasized that the newly graduated doctors acquired their knowledge at one of the best Hungarian universities.

In recent days, Krzysztof Morawski has performed cochlear implant surgeries at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery of the UD. His activity has now been recognised by Rector Zoltán Szilvássy by decorating him with the most prestigious award of the university.

The IRONHEART research group of the UD has discovered a new molecule from which a drug can be prepared for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This is one of the outstanding achievements of the now-completed four-year series of research.

EULAR, the European League Against Rheumatism, has elected Zoltán Szekanecz, Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the UD. His priority is to efficiently pursuit the interests of rheumatologists, healthcare workers and patients in Central and Eastern Europe, including Hungary.

The administration of the second those of the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers has been started at the University of Debrecen. In the following weeks more than 10,000 people will receive revaccination in Debrecen.

Medical professionals at the University of Debrecen are practising the treatment of coronavirus patients in a simulation room. Within the framework of a thematic training programme, they are familiarizing themselves with the protocols focusing in the coronavirus pandemic.
