Through an investment of about 100 million euros, a new plant is to be established in Debrecen by the German technological giant Continental, creating 450 new jobs. An important part in making this decision has been played by the knowledge base represented by the University of Debrecen.

Representatives of the University of Debrecen and the German thyssenkrupp Components Technology Group, who are to establish a new plant in Debrecen, signed an agreement on cooperation in education and research on Monday.

The University of Debrecen has signed a cooperation framework agreement with Ganz Engineering és Energetikai Gépgyártó Kft [Ganz Engineering and Energy Production Machinery LLC]. The company proposed to hand over to the university unique estate of Láng Gépgyár [Láng Machine Factory].

A discovery of key importance has been made by researchers of the UD during the course of investigating gene regulators that are responsible for various types of cancer among other things. Their findings have also appeared in the prestigious publishing house of Oxford University Press.

The University of Debrecen intends to be the first in Europe to introduce DEMOLA, the Finnish business incubation model, in the field of agriculture.
