On Wednesday, a delegation of the employees of the BMW Group was received by President Zoltán Szabó of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, who informed them about the patient care activities available at the institution. The representatives of the German car manufacturing company visited, among other things, the Emergency and Gastroenterology Clinics as well as the Department of Trauma Surgery.

As a recognized member of Microsoft’s Learn for Educators Program, the Faculty of Informatics (FI) of the University of Debrecen also participated in the professional summit held in Warsaw, Poland, and hosted by the global US-based company, where FI presented its scientific and educational achievements with the support of Microsoft as one of the outstanding partners of this international corporation.

Giacomo Maria Oliva, Deputy Director of the museum Museo di Reggio Calabria in Italy, gave a talk in Italian on Wednesday at the University of Debrecen titled Bronzi di Riace. The topic he covered was the (hi)story of the ancient Greek bronze statues that had been discovered in the sea near the Calabrian city of Riace in 1972.

The University of Debrecen and the South Dakota State University have concluded an agreement for the purposes of the expansion of educational and research relations and the promotion of international cooperation. The partnership agreement was signed at Brookings by Endre Harsányi, the vice chancellor responsible for the development of agricultural and food science.

The software is already being installed on the 5 petaflops supercomputer called Komondor at the Supercomputer Center on the Kassai út Campus of the University of Debrecen. The University of Debrecen and the company Continental have signed an agreement on joint educational, scientific and research development activities in the field of artificial intelligence-based software development projects and related technologies. The contract was drafted and signed soon after the multinational company had announced the establishment of a research and development center in Debrecen.

To mark the international day of premature babies, the Main Building of UD, the Clinical Centre, the Innovation Centre, the Stadium and the Water Tower were lit up in purple light on Thursday. The doctors and nurses who take care of premature babies also wore purple, the colour that symbolises hope and persistence. The goal of the initiative was to salute premature babies, their families, and healthcare professionals who take care of them.

It was for the second time already that the Faculty of Education for Children and Special Educational Needs of the University of Debrecen organized an international conference titled Challenge and/or Opportunity: The Integration of Roma People in Europe in order to analyze the social situation of Gypsy communities.
