The University of Debrecen achieved first place in Life Sciences and second in Medicine among national institutions on the 2019 lists of the Round University Ranking (RUR) published on Monday. In the global rankings UD has made it to the top 350 in both areas.

The University of Debrecen (UD) has finished in second position among Hungarian institutions of higher education on the overseas Best Global Universities ranking list. UD has excelled at biology, and biochemistry as well as chemistry and medicine.
Patients are easier to anesthetise and the risks of urinary tract infection are lower, these are, among other things, the advantages of kidney stone surgery performed with patient lying in the supine position, to be routinely introduced for the first time at the Urology Clinic of the UD.

Arieh Warshel, a worlwide-renowned biochemist, has been the first to win the University of Debrecen Science Impact Award (uDEsia) of UD. The Nobel Prize laureate researcher received the award from rector Zoltán Szilvássy on 29 March.
