The event called International Food Day is going to be held at the University of Debrecen a week later than originally planned, on May 5th. The scheduling has been changed due to the unfavorable weather conditions forecast for the end of April.

Multicultural cookie corner, information stands and presentations awaited interested participants at the event jointly organised by the University of Debrecen and Tempus Public Foundation. Erasmus, Europe’s largest student exchange programmes is 30 years old this year.

In addition to coming in to fifth place in a prestigious group of contestants, Nagyerdei Water Tower also won the special prize of the Hungarian Tourism Agency in the Highlights of Hungary competition. The tower was renovatedby the University of Debrecen a year and a half ago.

International student at UD Magal Deutsch, who treks around Nagyerdő [Big Forest] and its surroundings by dogsled, has attracted a lot of attention lately. The student who is a lover of dog sports has been featured in a number of newspaper articles and television programs in Hungary.

As part of a joint international effort, the activities in the framework of what is called SocialErasmus Week were held this fall simultaneously in as many as 38 countries altogether. The University of Debrecen did not miss the chance to take part in this social initiative this time either.

Five games, twelve hours of competition time, approximately two hundred gamers, two kilometres of UTP cables – these were some of the figures by which the LAN Party of the Faculty of Information Technology could be characterized.

Concerts, flashmob by students, fireworks, unique light and laser show – the stadium show of the University of Debrecen provided a special experience. This was yoUDay in 2016.

The statue of István Tisza, two-time prime minister of Hungary in the early 20th century, after whom the University of Debrecen was originally named, was erected in front of the Main Building, thus honouring the memory of the founder of the university.
