Student mobility, an important element of the process of internationalizing higher education, was the central theme of a conference held at the University of Debrecen. An important announcement was also made at this event concerning the government plan of refunding the cost of second language exam.

The University of Debrecen has been ranked among the best universities in two international lists recently. In the list released by Center for World University Rankings, UD has managed to retain its former position, while in the list by Quacquarelli Symonds, it continues to belong to the top 50.

Twenty thousand people launched the new academic year of the University of Debrecen on Wednesday in Nagyerdei Stadium. Students and employees of the university, the alumni community and other interested local guests kicked off the new semester at yoUDay with a flashmob, concerts and a laser show.

David Kostelancik, chargé d'affaires ad interim, deputy chief of mission at the American Embassy in Budapest, came to the University of Debrecen on an introductory visit.

A new, much needed English-language master’s programme, as well as training for nurses from Hungarian communities outside of Hungary will be offered by the Faculty of Health from the 2017/2018 academic year.

Nagyerdei Stadium will be full. 85% of the tickets are already sold for the stadium show of the University of Debrecen kicking off the academic year. The organisers recommend using public transit for easy access and early arrival to quickly get in on 27 September.

The University of Debrecen is to award the honorary degree Civis Honoris Causa to Russian Federation President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, based upon a resolution passed by the Senate of the institution on August 18, 2017.

In a fashion similar to what is customary at universities abroad, students in Debrecen can also wear now T-shirts and sweatshirts displaying the coat of arms of our institutions. The items of clothing and memorabilia bear the new emblem of the university.

Zoltán Szilvássy was officially appointed rector anew by President of the Republic János Áder at an event held in Budapest’s Sándor-palota. The present and future rector of the University of Debrecen is going to continue to be the head of our institution for a period of five more years.

After three decades, the canteen on the Egyetem tér campus will be remodeled again. Apart from the installment of a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen technology, the restaurant section will be extended and modernized, while the catering capacity will also be doubled.
