Rector Zoltán Szilvássy has awarded a two-year research scholarship to the three foreign students who represented the University of Debrecen at this year's Hackatom world competition in nuclear medicine. After winning the Hungarian round, two of them took part in the world finals, where they achieved great success, finishing in third place.

The team from the University of Debrecen came third in the international Hackatom problem-solving competition. The world finals were held in Moscow as part of the World Atomic Week program series and international forum. The two members of the team, called IsotopeX, are students at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

This year, in the Hungarian round of the international competition of the leading nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, the students’ task was to develop a digital patient management system in 24 hours. The University of Debrecen hosted the Global Hackatom Hungary in Nuclear Medicine event, where one of the teams from the host institution finished on top and will thus represent our country in the international finals in the autumn.

This year's Gerontology Days 2024 International Scientific Conference, which took place between 10-11 October 2024 at the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Health Sciences campus in Nyíregyháza, was concluded with outstanding professional interest. The two-day event aimed to raise awareness of the latest research innovations and best practices related to the quality of life, health and social inclusion of older people. The conference brought together experts, researchers, health and social care professionals and policy makers to discuss current challenges and solutions for the care of older people.

The University of Debrecen students and researchers have provided the highest number of Fulbright scholars in Hungary - this announcement was made at the information session of the International Office of the University of Debrecen, presenting this year's applications of the world's most prestigious scholarship programme. Every year, Fulbright offers 25 Hungarian students, researchers and teachers the opportunity to work as academic researchers and gain professional experience in the United States of America.

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria and novel therapeutic options were discussed at the recent international online conference on Infectious Diseases in a One Health context. Organized by the One Health Institute of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, the Institute of Metagenomics of the University of Debrecen, the Veterinary Medical Research Institute and the Centre for Ecological Research of the Hungarian Research Network, the objective of the event was to promote discussion and knowledge exchange.

In the past couple of days, fourteen lecturers and students of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern have participated in the social work field practice of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

At a dissemination conference and workshop hosted by Egészségtudományi Kar [ETK] Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Debrecen, international experts discussed the results of the HealAll project and health tourism education development in the digital space. The event, which was held at UD’s Innovációs Központ [Innovation Center] also showcased the potential of the e-Twinning innovative teaching method.

Ágnes Bene, assistant professor of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen, discussed the latest tasks and challenges of gerontology in Brussels at the meeting of the working committee of AGE Platform Europe, the European Commission's consultative body.

The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen offers up-to-date knowledge, practice-oriented education and a new master’s course to students, who can study in Debrecen, Nyíregyháza and Szolnok.
