Partners of the University of Debrecen are to present their research projects planned for the next seven-year economic cycle of the European Union and their possibilities for cooperation at the 2021 conference of the university network of applied sciences hosted in Debrecen between October 27 and 29

Students of the UD, who took part in the nuclear energy competition, known as Hackatom organised by Rosatom Central-Europe, Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. along with Paks II. Ltd, this spring, had the chance to get acquainted with Unit 4 of Paks Nuclear Power Plant on the spot.

A sponsorship agreement of one hundred million forints was signed by the UD and ITK Ltd. Within the cooperation the company group offered two Mercedes-Benz self-propelled chassis and a Mercedes-Benz passenger car for the UD and Debrecen Vocational Training Centre.

Teams from the University of Debrecen took the first six prizes at the joint Russian-Hungarian online competition hosted by Rosatom Central Europe, Paks Nuclear Power Plant of MVM Group and Paks II. Zrt. The awards ceremony of Hackatom was held on Friday in the Aula venue of the UD.

The NeurotechEU project is looking for partners in their quest to solve problems of neurosciences. Researchers and companies interested in developing new industrial solutions and technologies can contact the project’s personnel by completing a questionnaire.

22 teams from UD’s Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science and Technology are going to participate in the online competition announced by the global atomic energy corporation Rosatom. Representatives of the most prestigious Russian technical universities will also contribute to the event.

After the Hungarian, the English version of the unique healthcare application of the UD has also become available for downloading. Via the UD Mediversity app, foreign patients can now use the telephone directory, as well as search for specialised outpatient clinics and physicians.

According to the list released on Monday, the UD has improved its ranking as the only Hungarian university in the field of technical sciences while in the field of natural sciences it has moved up 45 positions in the Round University Ranking (RUR) of institutions of higher education 2019.

According to Times Higher Education’s most recent ranking by subject, the UD places among the best Hungarian institutions of higher education. Along with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the UD places in the 601-800 category on the Engineering & Technology list.

In his address delivered at the signing of the site purchase contract for the future Debrecen location of the German automotive giant, László Palkovics noted the role of the UD in the investment. Minister for Innovation and Technology, also underlined the upgrading the university’s programs.

Two students of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Debrecen can participate in the final of the CARPE Challenge in Valencia in October after they have won the universities’ round on September 4 with their idea in the field of transport development.

Preparations for the expansion of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Debrecen, the renovation of the Chemistry Building and the construction of the new vehicle laboratory are all included in the Hungarian government’s 13 billion forints’ worth of education package.

Students of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen are preparing for this year’s Shell Eco-marathon with Hunor, one of the country’s most energy efficient vehicles. The world’s leading energy efficiency competition is organised in London between July 5 and 8.
