The leaders of the University of Debrecen met with the delegation of three higher education institutions in Uzbekistan to discuss the experiences of pharmaceutical and agricultural education in Debrecen and the establishment of a Hungarian-Uzbek joint degree programme in these fields.

Faculty of Music of the UD hosted Young Musicians’ Summer Academy for the twentieth time this year. Students from the UD came up with an excellent performance at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The most considerable achievement amongst them belongs to Dóra Bodonyi, a student from the Szolnok Campus of UD, who won a gold medal in the women’s kayak four and a bronze medal in the women’s kayak double.
The Tribunal of Debrecen has registered the Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen, which will be responsible for maintaining and operating the University of Debrecen. With this major step, the model change in tertiary education has reached another milestone at UD.
The first meeting of the Advisory Board of the Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen was held on 8 July 2021. The event was also attended by the members of the Supervisory Committee, the asset controller, the auditor and the secretary of the Advisory Board.
After the general application procedure, as many as 6958 first-year students will be able to start their university studies in the Hungarian-language programs of the UD as of September 2021.
This was the third, and final closing ceremony held by the University of Debrecen in the Nagyerdei Stadium. Saturday saw the farewells of graduates of the Faculty of Health, Dentistry, Child Education and Special Education, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Engineering and Public Health.
A package of altogether 33 various events are going to be offered to those interested in visiting the Debrecen festival site of Campus Fesztivál Egyetem Tér [University Square, Campus Festival], which “returns” after skipping last year’s occasion.
The second closing ceremony of the end of the current academic year at the UD was held in Nagyerdei Stadion [Big Forest Stadium] on Saturday for graduates from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Music.

The Institute of English and American Studies of the UD and Indiana University, USA, will launch a joint Hungarian-American virtual language learning program and linguistic research seminar in the spring. The program involves 37 first-year, undergraduate, teaching major and master students.

The University of Debrecen has launched a mental support service for its foreign students, based at the School of Public Health of the Faculty of Public Health. The faculty works together with the Mental Health Centre, which will be responsible for the coordination of the services provided.
