During the 4-day visit of the delegation of the University of Donghua and in connection with the Chinese initiative ’One Belt, one Road’, the Faculty of Science and Technology of the UD have signed a cooperation agreement with two faculties of the Shanghai-based university.

A two-day, international, Russian language conference was organised at the Russian Centre of the Institute of Slavonic Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Debrecen on 5-6 December, with the title „The artistic language of the contemporary Russian novel”.

The University of Debrecen has improved its results in several areas on the university rankings. The performance of UD has improved not only among the universities in Hungary but also among international institutions, as a result of a conscious strategy plan.

A joint Big Data research lab has been established by the University of Debrecen and the Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. The two institutions are also planning to launch dual degree programmes in IT, Economics and Mathematics.

The University of Debrecen has received a plaque award for cooperation at the Chinese (Fujian)-Hungarin Economic and Trade Conference. The plaque says that UD cooperates with the Cinese Fujian Chuanzheng Communications College.

The Summer School of Debrecen (Debreceni Nyári Egyetem) has been expanding its system of relationships with the inclusion of Chinese universities. The students who have arrived from Tientsin were welcomed at a beginning-of-the year dinner.

Learning Hungarian and getting to know Hungarian culture was the focus of this year’s Summer University. 154 students enrolled and completed exams at the end of the one month period, with more than 80 percent of them finishing with a certificate of excellence.

The Debrecen Summer School began its 92nd academic year on Monday. This year 160 students have arrived from 33 countries to attend the courses and acquire Hungarian as a foreign language ad familiarise themselves with our country’s culture and history.

Outsourced training will be started by the University of Debrecen at the Partium Christian University in mechanical engineering and rural development engineering at a bachelor’s level and specialised studies further training.

The UD has made it to the list of Europe Teaching Rankings 2019 made by Times Higher Education in terms of teaching excellence for the first time ever, coming out immediately as a finalist among Hungarian universities. The ranking examined 258 institutions of higher education of 18 countries.

A further two groups, one consisting of 16 universitiy students and another, consisting of 21 middle school students, have finished their one year-long studies at the UD. In China the János Arany Centre has been inaugurated, whose aim is to facilitate the teaching of Hungarian in China.

József Goretity, literary historian, literary translator, Director of the Institute of Slavic Studies, University of Debrecen, has been awarded a prestigious international recognition for his work in fostering Russian-Hungarian cultural ties.

It is planned that Hungarian language training can be started at the Taganrog Pedagogical College in Russia, where a common methodological platform will be developed for teaching Russian as a foreign language. The delegation of the Faculty of Humanities of the UD visited the hometown of Chekhov.

The Faculty of Humanities of the UD and Nicolaus Copernicus University, the university of the Polish city Toruń, have signed an agreement on cooperation. The mutual cooperation agreement was signed by the respective deans of the two institutions in the Karácsony Sándor Room of UD on Thursday.

At the invitation of the Faculty of Humanities the British Embassador to Hungary, Mr. Iain Lindsay gave a lecture at DU „What's Next? British-Hungarian Relations and the UK'S Relationship with Europe after the UK'S Departure from the EU”.

The thousand-year-old form of movement, which the university’s students could try on Tuesday, can gain a role even in stress research conducted at the University of Debrecen. The free of charge class organized in the framework of the international yoga day DESOK was filled to capacity.

Chinese students will soon start their studies in the Hungarian language at the Faculty of Humanities of UD. The management of the faculty and the delegation of the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) discussed the expansion of their already existing cooperation on Tuesday.

In the past few days, the International Office of the University of Debrecen has been promoting opportunities to study and complete internship abroad among students through ”Erasmus breakfasts” and presentations at nearly all campuses of the university.

A group of students from the US have arrived at the Faculty of Health of UD to study Hungarian social and healthcare services. The 15 students learned about the academic, talent development and international research programmes of the faculty on Monday.

Invited by the Faculty of Humanities and the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, representatives of CARPE, the strategic alliance of European universities, arrived for a 2-day workshop at UD.

The representatives of the South-Chinese Guangxi region and the Guangxi University of Finance and Economics (GUFE) attended thematic presentations and consultations on Wednesday and Thursday, and signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Debrecen.

His Excellency, Markku Virri, Finland’s Ambassador to Hungary, also came to the University of Debrecen on his first visit to our city. The diplomat has been representing his country in Budapest since September of this year.

This year the University of Debrecen hosts the Meeting of Hungarian International Coordinators between 14-16 November, where the employees of higher educational institutions dealing with international affairs discuss issues related to students' and lecturers' mobility.

The Hungarian-Chinese relations may expand, owing to the visit of the delegation of the Beijing International Studies University (BISU).

The Communication University of China (CUC, Beijing) and the University of Debrecen have signed a cooperation agreement. It will facilitate student and researcher exchange programmes in the field of media science.
