UD has been ranked 672nd on the global ranking list of the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities, 285th in Europe, and 2nd in Hungary. In terms of disciplines, the best results were achieved in physics (375), biology and chemistry (446), as well as botany and zoology (476).
The rankings of the US-based company focus specifically on universities’ academic research performance and reputation. This year, the Best Global Universities list has ranked close to 1500 universities of 86 countries and, as a first step, with the first 1500 selected out of 1748.
13 indicators were used to do the ranking: global research reputation 12,5%; regional research reputation 12,5%; publications 10%; books 2,5%; conferences 2,5%; normalized citation index 10%; total citations7,5%; percentage of total publications that are among the 10% most cited 10%; number of publications that are among the 10% most cited 12.5%; international collaboration – relative to country 5%; international collaboration 5%; number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited in their respective field, 5%; percentage of total publications that are among the top 1% most highly cited papers 5%.
Of these indicators UD has produced the best performance in regional research reputation (132.), international cooperation (400.), and in percentage of total publications that are among the top 1% most highly cited papers (446).
The global ranking is headed by three USA universities: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
