The University of Debrecen was one of the professional partners of the two-day AI Transformation Conference organized by Corvinus University of Budapest and the Shenzhen Research Institute of the University of Hong Kong, China, where leading scientists from around the world discussed scientific opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

Aurelia Skipwith Giacometto, Secretary of the Environment in Louisiana, was presented with the title of Honorary Citizen by the University of Debrecen at a ceremonial Senate meeting held to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the death of Count István Tisza. Appointments and awards were presented at the event, which was attended by descendants of the former Prime Minister.
The Institute of English and American Studies, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Debrecen celebrated the 40th anniversary of the introduction of Canadian Studies and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Canadian-Hungarian diplomatic relations with an international conference. The event, which took place on 24-25 October, was graced by the presence of the Canadian Ambassador to Hungary and the Consul General of Hungary in Montreal. Following the opening ceremony, the world-famous author Margaret Atwood welcomed the participants with a video message.
The University of Debrecen is the only Hungarian institution of higher education that has become a member of a partner university network of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), called University Network for Research Collaboration. This year's presidential forum and conference of this network, which brought together 15 institutions from 11 countries worldwide with the aim to promote sustainable development globally, was held in Chongqing, where Vice Rector Károly Pető officially received a membership plaque.

Three faculties, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Informatics and the Faculty of Humanities, of the University of Debrecen were represented at a conference called CogInfoCom (Cognitive infocommunications) at Chuo University, Japan, which was attended by academics from universities located on several continents. This event primarily focused on the potential of merging human and digital environments, artificial intelligence, info-communication and cognitive skills.
A delegation from the University of Debrecen (UD) was also invited to Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) in China to join the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the host institution. During the official visit, the leaders of the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding on launching a Chinese major program in Debrecen, while a Confucius Institutes Partnership Association, established this time by TFSU, was also joined by UD.

The teaching of the Japanese language was the primary focus of an international Japanese language conference hosted for the first time by the University of Debrecen (UD) on August 26 and 27. The conference, which was organized by the Foreign Language Center of the Faculty of Humanities (FoH), was attended by participants from as many as ten different countries.

Students who studied at the Debrecen Summer School for a month and those who joined it for its second two-week section have done their final examination recently. Most of the students did a written exam. The exam tasks focused on grammar and vocabulary that the students mastered excellently. As many as 50 students passed the exam on the closing day of the Summer School.
