On Tuesday, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg heard the lawsuit filed by the University of Debrecen against the Council of the European Union. At the hearing, Professor Zoltán Bács, representing the University of Debrecen, was given the opportunity to take the floor and he shared the position of our institution with the nine-member panel of judges. György Kossa, President of Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen, also attended the hearing.

A project launched by the University of Debrecen exploring the history of the Hungarian diaspora in Canada has been enriched with special documents, including personal papers related to the founding of Hungarian United Church of Montreal in 1926. The personal papers of Mihály Fehér, a former student of Debrecen’s Reformed College and the Royal Hungarian István Tisza University of Debrecen, were returned to Hungary thanks to his family's donation.

This year, almost 80 students from as many as 27 countries are coming to Debrecen Summer School to learn Hungarian language and culture. At the current summer course, which lasts from July 21 to August 15, the youngest student is 16 years of age, while the oldest is 86. The number of young people learning the Hungarian language abroad is growing, and more and more start to learn Hungarian because of their family ties and heritage.
Topics such as the harmonization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with medical research, the role of artificial intelligence and network pharmacology, as well as opportunities in next-generation pharmaceuticals and theranostics, were discussed at the Doctor Honoris Causa Symposium on Thursday. At the scientific session, Professor Shao Li– member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Director of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Tsinghua University – presented his research findings. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Debrecen on Friday.
Members of a delegation from the Beijing-based Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China discussed the possibility of establishing a Bachelor of Arts program in Chinese language and culture at the University of Debrecen on Thursday with the leadership of our institution and that of the Faculty of Humanities.
