The university delegation of Chongqing municipality and provincial city of thirty million inhabitants altogether arrived at the University of Debrecen last week for a two-day visit. They conducted talks with Vice-Rector for Science László Csernoch and Director of the Coordinating Center for International Education at UD Attila Jenei, following which they visited our Confucius Institute.
At the meetings, the members of the delegation from Chongqing Medical University got acquainted with our broad training portfolio, as well as the research-development and innovation strategy of the University of Debrecen, together with its clinical patient care system.
For mapping up the latter, the representatives of this Chinese institution of higher education that operates as many as 12 hospitals discussed cooperation opportunities with Professor Zoltán Szabó, President of the Clinical Centre and the heads of several clinics before visiting the Clinical Centre's Neurology Clinic.
Chinese guests appreciated the progressive patient care system of the Clinical Centre of the University of Debrecen and the related top-quality scientific work and teaching activities. They encouraged further cooperation between the two institutions; primarily, in the practical fields of student and resident mobility, medical research and clinical tests and trials.
"We are currently regarded the seventh best teaching hospital in China and, with the help of the University of Debrecen, we would like to provide even higher quality training to our future physicians in order to be present jointly among the world's leaders in scientific research," said the head of the delegation, Professor Yang Zhu.
The President of the Clinical Centre underlined the significance of scientific mentality and the highest progressivity in order to continuously improve the quality of patient care, while expressing his openness to future cooperation.
The university's health industry initiatives and efforts were then presented to the visitors by József Tőzsér, Vice Rector for Sector Development in Life Sciences.
“The University of Debrecen is involved in all segments of the health industry except instrument manufacturing. The technology for the production of medical isotopes, vaccines and nutritional supplements is also available within the framework of our institution and through the involvement of university-owned companies. Research harmonization takes place in close cooperation with our industrial partners, while the processes of innovation are also supported by sectoral cabinets and accredited clusters based on strategic objectives,” said the Vice Rector.
During the two-day visit, the members of the delegation could also meet Chinese guest professors and visiting doctors, participating in the residency training program of the University of Debrecen.
