The leaders of Astana IT University, an institution specialised in training highly qualified engineers and professionals for the implementation of the Republic of Kazakhstan's digital transformation programme, and representatives of the clinical network working in partnership with them were received by Deputy Rector General Károly Pető and Director of Coordination and Strategy Oksana Kiszil at in the University of Debrecen's Main Building.
During the meeting, the Rector of the Kazakh University explained that Astana IT University is a competence centre for digital transformation in Central Asia, training professionals in the field of digital economics based on interdisciplinary technologies. Established in 2019, the university has grown from 614 students at the beginning to more than 6,000 today. Omirbayev Serik underlined that he is looking for opportunities to expand the dual degree system with the University of Debrecen.
- We already have dual-degree programmes with several American, European and Chinese universities, and we also run cross-border outreach programmes in Romania, Transcarpathia and Slovakia," Károly Pető, Vice-Rector, informed the delegation.
During the meeting, members of the delegation from the university and ministry presented the Kazakh government's strategy to support medical education, as well as the network of 25 clinics that are working closely with Astana IT University to provide the necessary IT support. They said that they are exploring various possible avenues of cooperation with the University of Debrecen with a view to strengthening medical education in Kazakhstan.
The intention of ccoperation was laid down in an agreement in Tuesday's meeting, which, in addition to cooperation in the field of medical education, also includes the possibility of examining the possibility of awarding dual degrees in IT education.
Following the meeting in the Main Building, the delegation also visited the Centre for International Education and the Faculty of Medicine.
