The square in front of the Lajos Kossuth Dormitory of the University of Debrecen was filled with tastes, scents, traditional costumes, music and flags on the International Food Day on Friday. The gastronomy contest of nations was won by Israel this year.

Campus Fesztivál, which has been in close cooperation with the University of Debrecen for the past ten years, has been awarded an international acknowledgment on its tenth “birthday.”

The story of the foundation of Dyntell, its products and services, and even its plans for the future were presented at a session of Magyar Közgazdasági Társaság Debreceni Ifjúsági Bizottsága [Debrecen Youth Committee of Hungarian Economic Society], held at the Faculty of Economics.

A Russian Center has been established recently at the University of Debrecen. The aim of the new institution, set up through the sponsorship and contributions of the foundation Russkiy Mir [Russian World], is to popularize Russian culture and support the teaching of the Russian language.

The event called International Food Day is going to be held at the University of Debrecen a week later than originally planned, on May 5th. The scheduling has been changed due to the unfavorable weather conditions forecast for the end of April.

Medicor Kéziműszer Zrt. [Medicor Hand Instrument Ltd.] regularly offers free state-of-the-art medical instruments to aid the program of first-year students of medicine and dentistry at the University of Debrecen. This year, the students received as many as 646 practicing sets of hand instruments.

A discovery of key importance has been made by researchers of the UD during the course of investigating gene regulators that are responsible for various types of cancer among other things. Their findings have also appeared in the prestigious publishing house of Oxford University Press.

International student at UD Magal Deutsch, who treks around Nagyerdő [Big Forest] and its surroundings by dogsled, has attracted a lot of attention lately. The student who is a lover of dog sports has been featured in a number of newspaper articles and television programs in Hungary.

Increased dormitory capacity and internationally acclaimed high standards are the catch phrases that describe the seven-year dorm development program launched at the University of Debrecen, in the framework of which a brand new dormitory and more than 200 new rooms will have been constructed by 2023

Exchange students who had spent the autumn semester at the University of Debrecen decorated the traditional Erasmus Christmas tree in the Main Building and said goodbye to one another and to the university at a festive dinner.

Seventy-one would-be physicians took their oaths on Saturday at the graduation ceremony of the University of Debrecen. Two Hungarian and two international students received their diplomas with summa cum laud grades.

Spectacular decorations, video projection mapping, special ball themes, oaths taken and dances performed by freshers, election of ball queens, star performers - the series of freshers’ balls is now starting.

Five games, twelve hours of competition time, approximately two hundred gamers, two kilometres of UTP cables – these were some of the figures by which the LAN Party of the Faculty of Information Technology could be characterized.

Expanding partnerships: one of the oldest US universities will build closer links with the University of Debrecen.
