The Hungarian-Chinese relations may expand, owing to the visit of the delegation of the Beijing International Studies University (BISU).

Foreign students who arrived for the autumn semester were greeted with traditional Hungarian food and drinks, as well as with a folk dance show at UD on Friday.

38 Chinese students from the University of International Studies in Beijing have started a 1-year programme studying Hungarian at the Faculty of Humanities of UD.

With the foreign students coming to study at the University of Debrecen now, the number of first years continues to rise. After last years’ 1690, this year, 1925 students have chosen one of the university’s programmes offered in English.

This year, 183 students from as many as 37 different countries have come to Debrecen to learn Hungarian as a foreign language and to familiarize themselves with the culture and history of our country. The 91st academic year of Debrecen Summer School was officially opened with a ceremony.

There is going to be an intensive practical training course offered at the University of Debrecen to students of pharmacy from France, Saudi Arabia and the US. In addition to the professional part, the program also includes several weeks of exposure to Hungarian culture and language.

Vietnamese students who graduated from the University of Debrecen back in the 1970s have returned to their alma mater to meet their one-time professors and fellow students. The event was organised within the framework of a conference designed to strengthen Hungarian-Vietnamese relations.

Twenty youngsters from China participated in the special programme of the Debrecen Summer School, where they followed a variety of courses in Hungarian over the past year. All of them are students at the Beijing International Studies University, enrolled in a seven-year programme.

Falafel, zorbian, matcha muffins, and bao zi are just a bare sample of the specialties presented by contestants from as many as twenty different countries at the International Food Day held this past Friday. For the first time in its history, the gastronomical competition was won by Team Israeal.

The University of Debrecen intends to improve the quality of its English-Language Programs with the help of international consultants to a level that is even higher than the current one. For this reason, experts from Higher Education Academy paid a visit to our institution at the end of April.

On Friday, visitors can sample international specialties of teams from twenty countries including Brazil, China, Iceland, Indonesia, Isreal, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Yemen, and Syria at the University of Debrecen. Get ready for the 13th International Food Day!

A delegation led by Ms. Pumla Nene, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, learned about the programs offered at the University of Debrecen and scholarship opportunities available, in addition to meeting international students enrolled at UD from South Africa on Thursday.

State-of-the-art quality medical hand instruments, offered by Medicor Kéziműszer Zrt. for free, provide substantial help in the practical programs of first-year students of the University of Debrecen in medicine and dentistry. This year, the students received as many as 764 practicing sets.

Student mobility, an important element of the process of internationalizing higher education, was the central theme of a conference held at the University of Debrecen. An important announcement was also made at this event concerning the government plan of refunding the cost of second language exam.

The English-language programme in medicine was launched in Debrecen three decades ago. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Faculty of General Medicine held an award-giving ceremony in the Aula of the University of Debrecen.

David Kostelancik, chargé d'affaires ad interim, deputy chief of mission at the American Embassy in Budapest, came to the University of Debrecen on an introductory visit.

A new, much needed English-language master’s programme, as well as training for nurses from Hungarian communities outside of Hungary will be offered by the Faculty of Health from the 2017/2018 academic year.

There are going to be more than two hundred participants learning about the Hungarian language, history, and culture during the next couple of weeks at the University of Debrecen, where the 90th Summer School was officially opened and even a memorial tree was planted on July 17.

Tickets for the 2017 stadium-show of the University of Debrecen are available now at a 90% discount for students and employees of the university. In addition, the first 100 non-university affiliated registrants can also access admission for the low price of HUF 1538.

A selection of traditional Hungarian dishes on the menu, the presentation of certificates, and a parade of the flags were just some of the things at the farewell party of exchange students in the spring semester, held in the Ceremonial Hall.

The square in front of the Lajos Kossuth Dormitory of the University of Debrecen was filled with tastes, scents, traditional costumes, music and flags on the International Food Day on Friday. The gastronomy contest of nations was won by Israel this year.

There were national dishes from 21 different countries prepared for this year’s International Dinner. The bill of fare offered for the students at the traditional gastronomical feast included specialties from Azerbaijan, Mexico, and India, in addition to the staples of Hungarian cuisine.

Multicultural cookie corner, information stands and presentations awaited interested participants at the event jointly organised by the University of Debrecen and Tempus Public Foundation. Erasmus, Europe’s largest student exchange programmes is 30 years old this year.

During the course of their tour of Hungary, students from Josai International University also paid a visit to the University of Debrecen, where they met international students from Japan and took a class of Hungarian at our Nyári Egyetem [Debrecen Summer School].

Members of a prestigious delegation arriving from the distant country learnt about the educational programme offering of the university, as well as the scholarship opportunities provided by Stipendium Hungaricum, and also met South African students studying here at the University of Debrecen.
