The British periodical regularly prepares a list of about a thousand institutions of higher education worldwide, including the University of Debrecen among seven Hungarian universities altogether.
According to the current list, it is the University of Debrecen among Hungarian institutions of higher education where the number (29 714) of students is the highest, closely followed by ELTE Budapest (28 698) and Szegedi Tudományegyetem [University of Szeged] (22 684).
Among the key areas of performance, the strength of the University of Debrecen is most apparent in international outlook and the proportion of international students (13%), in which respect it is ranked 416th. As regards Industry Income, we are ranked 567th, while our Citations rank is 733rd, which gives us an overall 801+ category standing.
The 980-item world list is headed by the University of Oxford, with the runners-up being California Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
The seven Hungarian universities that have made it on the list are as follows (in alphabetical order): Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetem [Budapest University of Technology and Economics], Debreceni Egyetem [University of Debrecen], Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem [Eötvös Loránd University], Közép-európai Egyetem [Central European University], Pécsi Tudományegyetem [University of Pécs], Semmelweis Egyetem [Semmelweis University] and Szegedi Tudományegyetem [University of Szeged].
