UD Named in Yet Another Ranking

For the first time, the University of Debrecen has appeared in the ranking of higher education institutions compiled on the basis of QS employment results. UD made it to the top 500 based on employers’ opinion, the performance of its graduates, and its corporate relations.

QS, the prestigious, UK-based ranking organisation placed the University of Debrecen into the 301-500 band in its new Graduate Employability Rankings 2022 list, the purpose of which is to compare universities around the world based on employment indicators. Among other factors, the opinion of employers on the university, the alumni community, the corporate relations of the university, and the chances of fresh graduates to find employment are considered.

This year 786 universities, including 7 from Hungary, were assessed, out of which 550, including 3 Hungarian universities, were ranked. UD achieved its best result in the category of Graduate employment rate (201+), followed by Employer/student connections (201+), Partnerships with employers per faculty (201+), Alumni outcomes (275) and Employer reputation (301+).

- It is a great pleasure that the University of Debrecen has appeared in yet another ranking of the prestigious QS ranking organisation. Employers’ opinion on universities and the chances of graduates to find employment are especially important today. This is why it is a big success that UD has been ranked in the top 500 in the category of corporate relations - commented Ákos Pintér, Vice Rector for General Affairs on the ranking published on Thursday to hirek.unideb.hu.

QS prepares the list based on five indicators: Employer reputation (30%), Alumni outcomes (25%), Partnerships with employers per faculty (25%), Employer/student connections, career- and recruitment-related events, involvement of businesses in education (10%), and Graduate employment rate (10%). In the framework of data collection global surveys were carried out with the involvement of more than 75,000 employers. The most successful, creative and innovative leaders of the world were asked in order to find out which universities provided the best professionals. The recruitment activities of about 170,000 employers, and more than 310,000 professional partnerships were studied to prepare the 2022 ranking.

Besides the University of Hungary, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and the Eötvös Loránd University also appears in the QS ranking. The list is topped by three US universities: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which is a strategic partner of UD, followed by Stanford University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
