On 29 September the Debrecen University Student Union Foreign Affairs Committee once again invited international mobility professionals, helpers, and students with experience of student life abroad, to a round table discussion. For the first time the Mobility Café, a series of informal discussion events designed by the organisers to provide information and improve students’ knowledge of possible destinations, was held in the garden of the Great Forest Water Tower in the fall semester.
The success of the series, which started last year, shows that right from the first discussion, there were many visitors and many questions about scholarship opportunities. Those who participated in the discussion included Péter Gara, the University's International Office Erasmus coordinator, József Virga, Commissioner for Educational Affairs at ESN Hungary, and Felícia Deme, the DEHÖK Foreign Affairs vice president responsible for Hungarian students. Judit Kiss, Szabolcs Szegedi and Marcell Szűcs, returning Erasmus students, also talked about their experiences. Among the topics included in the first Café were the process and conditions of application for the Erasmus+ and the Campus Mundi academic mobility programmes. In addition, language learning, language skills certification, skills development and the advantages of the labour market were also discussed.
The program will continue every month. The next Mobility Café will be on October 25, where guest speakers will discuss work placements.
In the meantime, anyone who needs up-to-date information about scholarship opportunities should visit the main building on 4 October between 9.00 and 15.00, where the 18th Foreign Job Fair will be organised by the University of Debrecen International Office, the Debrecen University Student Union Committee for Foreign Affairs and the Erasmus Student Network. 22 professional and international organizations accepting scholarships, as well as representatives of the university, will be ready to provide information about part-courses abroad, study trips, work placements, and job opportunities for students and volunteers, as well as mobility programs for any students and teachers who are interested.
Erasmus+ and Campus Mundi will feature among the exchange programs, and informative lectures on inter-state scholarships will be given on October 4 in Room 58 of the Main Building from 11.30 to 12.30, and from 13:30 to 14:30. University staff can also hear about staff mobility, also in Room 58 of the main building from 12:30 to 13:30, and from 14:30 to 15:30. The lectures will be given by staff from the Tempus Fund and the university’s International Bureau.
